Adorama shipping charges

Living in Alaska and Hawaii we almost always have to pay for shipping because we are not part of the 48 contiguous United States. So when I see free shipping I always check. I even request that if they give me that portion to the West Coast free, I'd be happy to pay the difference. The answer is always "NO!". But with Amazon Prime I love it because for I always get free shipping. I recently purchased an item for $299 and with it being an oversized and weight heavy I received free shipping which cost them $154. Sure paid for my "Prime" membership.

If you think $11.25 is high, wait until you have to have something shipped to Alaska! We have Amazon Prime and use it as much as possible. Conus shipping rates don't seem to apply when shipping to Alaska for some reason. I wouldn't cry over $11.25.

I guess I am not the norm judging from all these responses.The point I was trying to make is when u spend almost $900.00 u should get free shipping.I don’t care if it takes a week for me to get it but none of u here seem to share my thoughts so I rest my case.I received my lens today,love it so it is what it is!🤔

Well, I do have to agree that it wiuld be nice to have free shipping in some things. I understood where you were coming from.

I sometimes get free shipping on Items over a certain amount , but believe me nothing is free you pay for it one way or another.
An order I placed within my state had free shipping + sales tax, and THEN a hazmat charge (that I overlooked) that was over the price of the hazmat material, is this the sellers fault? I believe not, but I will purchase such materials locally, will I beat the hazmat charge Hell No, but I will reduce it quite a bit.

I believe that you are missing a piece of the picture. You are going after a particular lens. One store states $811.00 with free shipping and another states $800.00 plus $11.00 shipping. Which one would you choose? How about the store that states $785.00 plus $11.00 shipping plus $15.00 handling charge?
Also, how much would you be willing to pay for the assurance that you get what you pay for?
I dislike ordering on-line products. I will say I am of the old school who likes to put his hands on the product before purchasing it.
To this, there are those stores that charge restocking fees to return an item that does not meet the needs. I prefer to be able to walk the item back to the counter and exchange it for what I needed in the first place.

Yet another DIRTY LAUNDRY POST. This forum is becoming polluted with them.
Adorama CLEARLY shows shipping charges BEFORE you push the button to purchase. It is not a surprise.
BUT, instead of calling Adorama and finding out what the issue is, you take your inter hatred and post it.
You knew about the shipping charges BEFORE you pushed the order button, why didn't you call them to ask them why?

You are certainly free to go elsewhere to make your purchase but why don't you think you should pay the shipping? Adorama must pay the shipper so the shipper can pay its bills and make a profit.

Ebay shipping charges can be worse, one vendor of camera gear (No names mentioned) charges $134 for every item. Last time I looked they had a $50 Nikon remote release with $134 shipping. Check the small print under the bid price.

Who do you think should pay both the cost of the shipping materials such as the bkx, tape etc? Who should pay for the person who does the boxing process? Who should pay the cost charged by the shipping company for the delivery company? They don't work for free. Go into the store and make the purchase and there are no shipping cost involved with getting the camera to you. Why should the seller pay the cost to ship to you?
