Thanks, Donna and really appreciate you looking and it's way too cold for us also and most years we don't have to contend with anything like this until sometime in January or many times February or early March, and even then this much snow doesn't happen very often but as I remember it did happen last year! Both Ellen and I agree that we never want to move one mile north of here...Yesterday while watching a flock of mallards feeding along the water's edge I noticed something flicking up and down and first thought it was a squirrel flicking its tail, but then saw a flash of red and a closer look showed the woodpecker hammering at the base of the stump!.. Hope you guys are doing great and have a great Christmas and by the way, did you look closely at the last image of the woodpecker to see what it was feeding on? Thanks again and take care!

That I did, Corky, and it looked like peanut butter suet to me! You and Ellen have a wonderful Christmas, Corky....and stay warm!!!
We received eight-plus inches of snow on Sunday afternoon continuing into the night and have included one image of it coming down along with an image of a hen cardinal and two images of a pileated woodpecker. The woodpecker images were taken yesterday in a drizzle as it was feeding at the stump of an ancient white oak which we had taken down a few years back and if you look close in the last image you will see what it was feeding on! Conditions were pretty dark so the aperture was wide open on the Tamron 150-600 at 6.3 and the speed set at 320- 500 with the iso a maximum of 6400 and the distance was about ninety feet.

Many thanks, Merry and also thanks for the two smiley faces and almost all of the snow finally melted today so that will help on the fun side for Bella as she was bottoming out and I had to shovel her a few special trails. Now with the snow almost gone she is a much happier little girl today as she now again has the run of the yard, as well as the house Hope that Santa will be good to you guys and take care!

Corky, an awesome set and I love the Pileated Woodpecker the best. DDLs told me what they were eating and understand what they are. Take care going outside. I know how slick it can get.

Many thanks for the kind words and the three thumbs, Greg, and with the warmer weather yesterday and this morning all the snow has disappeared and almost felt like spring when I fed the birds today. Hope you guys are also snow free and that you have a great Christmas! Take care
Great set Corky. We had a few sleet pellets in Rehoboth and that was fine with me. -Doc
Many thanks, Doc and really great to hear from you and glad that you made it through without the white stuff and hope that you guys have a great Christmas in your new location! Take care
