Jack and I are two different entities. I simply joined his thread right after he created it. It's in my watched list.

Thanks for investigating. I appreciate your time.

Oh, I see, Bronco … it's just rare to see two people who've both traded in the same camera (T6i, in this case) for the same camera (77D) and subsequently, bought 6-10 lenses for it!!!! So, I jumped to that conclusion! Sorry!

Don't know if I've helped you there, with my hands-on experience with virtually the same Nikon DSLR (yours - D5600, mine - D5500) but, I think what you're experiencing is the omission of the second dial.

More than that - I cannot help you … sorry, Bronco …

Never hurts to ask, and yes, there certainly are parallels between Jack and I! Thanks much for taking my question. I'm sure someone here knows the answer.

I wasted $62 on a Promaster L bracket custom for the 77D. Can't make much use of the articulated screen with an L bracket installed. Live and learn as they say. Sure, I can still use it but it's a bit of a nuisance to swap out plates. That is my sole regrettable acquisition for my 77D.

The D5500 is a fine camera. I'm sure you enjoy it. Touch screens are a real plus for me.

Yes, and I DO enjoy the D5500, but I prefer the earlier D5300, actually - even though it doesn't have the Touch-Screen.* But, it's bigger than the D5500 (better for my grip) PLUS it has the built-in GPS ….

Not sure why you're having a problem with that bracket. Does it only go on - positioned to the left? … I have a bracket which screws into the tripod socket on my 60D, for the attached leather grip.

I suppose, if I were left-handed, I could swing it to the left side. Can't you swing your Promaster over to the right side? … Or, won't it let you do that, Bronco?

* My EOS Rebel T4i also has a Touch Screen - believe it was the first DSLR to employ such a device. I was so happy to discover - some 3-4 years later, Nikon had also jumped on that particular bandwagon, with the D5500!

Because it is custom for the 77D there is a cutaway to allow access to the ports. It is designed to be positioned left. The battery door and grip would also be obstructed otherwise.

Oh, I see … so, it's a - more-or-less - permanent attachment, then, is it?

BTW - when I have to access the bottom door - to change the battery on my 60D - I have to - at least - loosen the grip, OR - remove it altogether … no big deal!!!!

Seems strange to me, they would make cut-outs in it to allow port access, w/o any concern for the swing-out LCD. Can't you turn it around, fold it back in, and then - reattach your bracket?

If you do that, of course - it might make sense to get one of those see-thru plastic LCD covers, which stick on, over it ...

Perhaps, it was made for the larger dig cams, which don't employ fully articulating screens - like the EOS 7D models, or, perhaps, the fixed-screen models like the T3/T5/T6/T7 … could that be it?

Yes I can reverse the screen, then install the plate but it wont tilt, which is what I need it for the most.

No, this was specifically designed for the 77D. The box specifies that as well as the retailer.

Oh, I see … then, you have a problem, don't you, Bronco?

It really says on the ProMaster box - the bracket is designed expressly for the 77D, and no other, eh? … The Rebel T7i also uses the same exact format, you know (essentially. the same DSLR - w/o the top-deck LCD.)

In that case, I'd contact ProMaster - and advise them of the problem you're having. If you can't get any joy from them, contact the retailer, and ask them for your money back!

Perhaps, your vendor can steer you in the right direction - towards a bracket which WILL do the job, for you ….
