The Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area, a nearby flood plain area, leases out some of its land to rice farmers. The rice provides habitat and protection to lots of birds and small animals in the growing season and in the winter, the stubble fields are flooded, providing habitat for wintering over ducks, geese, swans, etc.

Katy, a fantastic set in all ways. Not sure if it is a weasel or not.

The set deserves a High Five.

Wow, Bill, that is puzzling. Do you mean cooked rice? I thought these plants were really attractive, with their pink flowers. Are you going to tell us why you hate the sight of rice?

50 years ago was 1968, the middle of the Vietnam War. Rice was the #1 staple in Vietnam and not popular with GIs for lots of reasons.

Nice shots Katy. It is a little large for a weasel. I think it is a mink.

Sorry if the rice touched a nerve for some. I would never have imagined. I remember those years very well, from a very different perspective, being at Ohio State at the time. No comparison, I know.

I don't know the kind of rice but if you really want to know, I may know someone to ask. Let me know.
