Yes, that is the place. Ibis are very, very common there, but right now, I only see them flying overhead in medium sized groups. Just wait for spring! Also, right now, the ducks are a distance away and although they can be id'd with binoculars, they are too far for photos. We need more rain to fill the ponds and bring them closer. It is hawk time now, with so many Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks in trees. Unfortunately, the willow leaves are clinging, preventing good shots. One of the better roads on the auto tour is closed due to bad conditions so the best viewing is shut off. All in all, it is very disappointing right now. In all the years I have been going there, I have only seen a mink for a few seconds.
My favorite spots are the Sacramento and Colusa NWRs. But Vic Fazio is minutes away so I keep going, hoping it will improve.

I agree about the Sacramento and Colusa NWR being great places to go but it's quite a drive. I visit Vic Fazio reserve because it's a 15 minute drive. I also like the Staten Island preserve. It's only about 35 minutes south of Sacto. I saw some eagle pictures here on UHH from the Colusa NWR but never saw any when I was up there. I captured some pretty shots of the Buttes in the background one cloudy day just after the storms passed through. I've been noticing a lot of hawks along Hwy 99 on my way out to Teal Bend Golf course. I keep meaning to take my camera gear along. There are a lot of red tails at the golf course and what I'm pretty sure is a peregrin falcon nest. One day I think I will rent a golf cart and just quietly go out and take pictures of the wildlife instead of playing golf. I'd probably have more fun the way my golf game is lately.

The Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area, a nearby flood plain area, leases out some of its land to rice farmers. The rice provides habitat and protection to lots of birds and small animals in the growing season and in the winter, the stubble fields are flooded, providing habitat for wintering over ducks, geese, swans, etc.

Very nice series. I've driven over the Yolo Causeway dozens of times, but never thought to pay attention. One of our sons graduated from UC Davis and lived in Sacramento for a while.
