The Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area, a nearby flood plain area, leases out some of its land to rice farmers. The rice provides habitat and protection to lots of birds and small animals in the growing season and in the winter, the stubble fields are flooded, providing habitat for wintering over ducks, geese, swans, etc.

Wow, Bill, that is puzzling. Do you mean cooked rice? I thought these plants were really attractive, with their pink flowers. Are you going to tell us why you hate the sight of rice?
