I recently spent 12 days in China. The main thrust of the trip was to photograph Pandas and in the first 9 days, we visited 5 Panda rehab. centers. Several of them were well off the beaten track, too far for the Chinese city people to travel to ... especially when there is one right in Chengdu. I found the Chinese people to be quick to smile and a laugh is usually not far behind. It was strange playing the tourist role and I wore a "LOST" card around my neck. The card had (in Chinese) Hello, I am lost. Please help me to call my tour guide. It gave the phone # and ended with "thank you very much". If you haven't caught on yet, our tour went into the mountains where tourists seldom appear and English is not spoken, not even in the small hotels we stayed in most of the trip. We were entirely dependent upon our two Chinese guides.
