hj, why is this the wrong section...he is not trying to sell to everyone on UHH, just trying to help out someone who is looking for options to scan their slides...

Any attempt to buy, sell or trade belongs in that specific section. If he is simply wanting to market it to one specific individual then he should do so by sending a PM (personal message) to that member. By posting as he did it is literally going out to all the members for a broadcast sale. I'm sure if someone else responded he wouldn't deny the sale to them.

Disagree. OP was interested in a slide scanner. I have one that would work for him.
My post is on target. Although I suppose I could PM the OP.
So far, no reply from the OP.

I totally agree with you!
The OP is looking for help finding scanning hardware.
You have a direct answer. It just happens to be yours.
Better, in my opinion than sending a link for something at stores or on ebay, which is allowed.
Good luck!

Using your logic, Every time someone posts they are looking for something anyone can respond "I have the perfect answer for your need, here's my xxxx I'll sell". At that rate this section becomes buy, sell trade.
I'll withdraw my opinion if an administrator says we can offer an item for sale in response to another's post. Otherwise, responses should be sent to the inquiring party by personal message. By posting here your are literally marketing your item to the entire membership.

I disagree. I have an answer that would help the OP. I am NOT offering it to the general public - - just to the OP.
This is appropriate for this section. You're entitled to your erroneous opinion.
So far - the OP has NOT responded. I'll unwatch soon.

If you have an answer ONLY for the OP, that's what PM is for. Yeah right, I'm sure if someone else offers to buy it you'd refuse.

I am thinking of modifying one of my Kodak projector to use it as slide copier.

hmm - such dissension .. is this a political blog now? laughs
thoughts
1. I believe Nikon stopped making their scanners because of so many issues with the loaders. Also I would make sure you can make it work with your current OS and ports. May be a bigger headache than is worth it.
2. before using any scanning service like Costco check what resolution they will give you. 640kb jpegs might not be what you want. Certainly the simplest solution.
3. question - how good of resolution do you get shooting with the camera macro setup? I have an epson and scanned hundreds of slides and negatives from the 60s thru 00 when I switched to digital only. I would have loved for them to have been in raw for pp.
