I think I would need somewhat more experience with "Rubenesk" models to gain appreciation of the genre.
I find it pretty easy to disassociate my ideals of physical beauty and evaluate this image strictly as a bodyscape; a bodyscape with an interesting model presented with the additional feature of rope bondage. If it were a landscape, it would be an image of a gritty urban skyline as apposed to a vista of lush, pastoral farmland. Both types of landscapes have a place in my virtual gallery. I say kudos to SS for taking his camera where most of us would be afraid to go and finding art there.

ISO, I agree. I've been through photo school and one of the most powerful learning tools is to be exposed to 1000's of images, mostly controversial if not acceptable in their day, by everyone from Arbus to Mapplethorpe. It was never because we may or may not personally like the work but to discuss what it was about the work that made it what it was. I don't ever post to titillate as has been mentioned, plenty here to do that, I post to expose others to art and to explore my own boundaries of visual art.
And thanks for the kind words!!!

Lou, thanks!
Maybe you can use a few more words and tell us why? What do you like and what do you like about what you like?
Is a Playboy look more to your liking? Are there avant-garde looks that you DO like?
Thanks

SS, I much prefer some of your other "art" work, like "D, a little different" posted on 1 Sep 2016. To me that was real art, and it was EXCELLENT!!!
John, thanks for taking the time to go back and find some of my previous work!
LoL, no easy feat since you have to wade through all my Attic posts!!! LoL
I’m glad I have some memorable images!!!
BTW, that ball, the egg as it came to be know , is STILL a favorite prop with me and among my models! I’ve got a cool one I can post using it. Sadly it’ll be less controversial!! LoL
Here is the one you referenced if anyone else wants to take a look!! Thanks

It was not hard to find, really. I remember the shot, as well as a few others you did with a lot of symmetry in the poses, and those were all more appealing to me.

Secondary is to inspire other's creative thought to push their own boundaries.
Personally I feel this is one of the most beautiful pieces of photographic nude art I've ever created.
The model is unorthodox as is the genre of Shibari.
On the heels of my last discussion, I'd like to know WHAT and HOW you feel/think about this piece?
I'm glad to answer anything you might ask(when I'm here)
Feel free to critique any aspect of the image.

For me it is not beauty. Art is closer to what I see but not much of it in my eye. But who cares.
IMHO, I do not see beauty in a traditional sense but definitely interesting art. Although the rope work is relatively sloppy, the lighting and portions exposed by the dissection of rope is compelling. To my eyes, another photo, using the top portion cropped just barely above the nipples would be fabulous.

Star thanks for looking!
Yes, this was supposed to be a little edgy. Hope it accomplished that.
The rope work was supposed to mirror that. Not a pretty weaved chest harness. I’ve got lots of different angles and crops as well as straight bodyscapes.
I’ve got another rope shoot planned with her. It’ll be more edgy still. We didn’t get a chance to use her ballcock or other toys. She’s a bit into kink! LoL
She’s a very wonderful young woman, we had a great time!!! I really look forward to creating unique pieces with her.

It has been a long time ago when I first saw an example of Shibari. It is an art form that has been viewed and misused by several who do not appreciate and/or understand the Japanese mind view. "Bondage" is the wrong term, I think. It is closer to tattooing, using removable "ink". Instead of swathing the body in cloth, rope is used to bring out the patterns in the body.
Your photo is a study of three dimensional patterns created by the positioning of the roping and the light. It is well done. And well shot.

SS, although you don't post often I find your work very interesting, and often edgy, and see how you challenge both yourself and the model, which to me always gives you an extra "star" versus going with the tried & true. And, when you asked if the photo was "beauty" "art" or "both or neither" although I responded I did not see beauty, that does not mean I was referring to the model. I do not see beauty in a number of photographs but they can still move me and find them of interest. Will look forward to seeing your next series with the model. Of course, one's kink is another's typical Saturday's night for others. LOL

That is well composed but not in my genre, so I can't comment!

Dick, thanks for looking!
You did comment, you said you liked the composition. But just by looking, you had a reaction beyond the composition. You don't need to know anything about rope, just to state your initial gut reaction. I'll admit, the second I saw this Model I knew exactly what I wanted to do, not because I'm into very large women but because I'm into creating art and I could envision the raw, edgy assault on the eyes and on some's sensibilities!!! LoL
Don't be afraid to state your initial gut reaction, good or bad.
I'm thinking of a series that I could sell!!!
