Why would I deride Nikon or any other brand? I firmly believe that mirrorless technology will become the dominant technology over time, but the transition will take a while. I have my personal reasons for staying with DSLRs, others have excellent reasons for moving to mirrorless. For one, I'm very interested to see what Nikon and Canon do with mirrorless and especially FF mirrorless. They were both late to the market, but sometimes companies come from behind to take over and lead, there are many historical examples of that in the technology industry.

I don't see any need to make personal attacks, or to deride someone for making personal equipment choices. I own more film cameras than I do digital cameras, I have more mirrorless cameras - including mobile phones - than I do DSLRs, but for now I do not see enough progress to replace my DSLRs with a new form factor. Yet.

So good luck to Nikon and to Canon. We'll find out what happens, and if they do well, it will bring new options to everybody.

No, just two 22 inch 16:9 monitors set up as a single display. Why do you ask?

Is Nikon perhaps too busy designing the new mirrorless and its lenses?

I doubt that they pulled workers off the assembly lines to design new products, but I could be wrong. My guess is they just don't have enough production lines dedicated to the D850. They're keeping up with peoduction of the cheaper D5xxx and D7xxx lines. Maybe they just underestimated demand for the D850.
