Not sure but I was in Japan a few weeks ago and decided to take a tour of Nikon. I remember hearing someone yell, "Hey Akihiko stop building D850 DSLRs and get back to designing a Mirrorless camera. Those crazy American DSLR lovers will wait.

But they don’t build the D850 in Japan. Were you somewhere else?

So I take that Nikon will make their new cameras in Thailand factory.

I am not interested in changing gear, so I have followed nothing regarding the new camera to be announced soon.

Any question?? I checked with my wife and she assured me that was the case.

B&H, Amazon, and Best Buy are giving expected delivery dates in the next 5 - 10 days. They are no longer saying Pre-order. Best Buy states I can pick one up in my local store on August 1.

Does anyone really care?
Becoming dated technology with Photokina coming out.

Rest up before you pick one up, they're heavy!

Do they offer wheels as an option?

That's fine if you want to start over with new lenses to go with the new mirrorless. The D850 has been around, well reviewed, etc.

They might not want old outdated technology. Nikon is obviously trying to dump the D850 before the new better stuff is introduced at Photokina.

Not yet, they have to invent them first

Does anyone think that Nikon will release only one model of the mirrorless camera or will it be a series. Would buying a first generation camera be wise, or would it be better to wait a generation or two later? After all look how long Sony has been producing their products.

Possibly 2 but even 1 will be right. Sony seems to shotgun only half thought through cameras just to keep interest in upgrading constantly.

Somehow I believe it could be a skillful marketing strategy based on the various consumer habits. They created a heck of a demand and probably speculated that US consumers would feed on the hype and get on waiting lists.

Similar thoughts were in my mind.
