Thanks a lot mt, It is a good weekend, it also coincides with the village Scarecrow festival, in which the kids and the villagers make scarecrows and leave them out side there houses for a couple of weeks, it really is a colourful part of our summer,

Geoff

the scarecrow festival sounds like lots of fun.

Situated in the small Sussex Village of Westham on the South Coast of England this is our little village church of St Marys the Virgin, and its quite unique in English history. After the Norman conquest, when William The Conqueror came over from France and landed at Pevensey Castle next to where the church is now in 1066, he marched a few miles inland to Senlac Hill where he defeated the army of King Harold to claim the thrown of England at the battle of Hastings. Following his victory this was the first church the Normans built in 1080. Each year we have a flower festival in the church and this is some of this years beautiful displays.

A lovely little church which hides its age quite well. It must be a lovely sight with all the beautiful bouquets of flowers decorating it, and to hear the harp music in that setting must be heavenly! I love the flower arrangement on the pillar in #6.
