Situated in the small Sussex Village of Westham on the South Coast of England this is our little village church of St Marys the Virgin, and its quite unique in English history. After the Norman conquest, when William The Conqueror came over from France and landed at Pevensey Castle next to where the church is now in 1066, he marched a few miles inland to Senlac Hill where he defeated the army of King Harold to claim the thrown of England at the battle of Hastings. Following his victory this was the first church the Normans built in 1080. Each year we have a flower festival in the church and this is some of this years beautiful displays.

This church still looks pretty good for 900 years old. The flowers really brighten it up. Nice series.

Thanks Jan, There have been a few addon's and a pit of Polyfiller over the years but all in all its a lovely wee Church, and it really comes to life at Christmas when the kids from the have there carol service there, but the Flower Festival, which is this weekend, and the Harvest Festival bring such a beautiful life.
