I use a m4/3 system and like it. For fun I have been looking at high quality lens attachments for a smart phone. There is a company, called Moment, which looks very promising and fun.

That's the trouble with our world today. The other guy is always wrong and MY opinion matters.
Hasn’t it always been that way?
The ability to process a contrarian opinion and apply it constructively may be rare, but more often than not, helps us learn and grow.
Sometimes the customer really is wrong. I’ve been there, been wrong, and been damned glad to be steered toward the right solution.

One word: OLYMPUS---SH 2.; 5-axis Stabilization, 24X zoom, Light weight, pocketable, a plethora of options. Alyn
Dear randik , I got your feelings.
Truly speaking , no compact camera will match the quality of a DSLR .
Please say the actual reasons for the comeback.
Is it due to the huge weight of DSLR ? Or price of additional lenses ?
There are so many options , don't buy cameras which have more zoom ratios , because we should sacrificed quality to zoom power ! So opt a compact with 15 X or maximum 20 X .anything beyond this is superfluous .

I just researched this exact challenge for a friend. She has terrible "shakes" and wants to have something that doesn't need to lens changes. I found the Panasonic FZ300 would fit the bill. With an F2.8 lens, everything should shoot fast and eliminate the "shakes" problems. I thought it looks good too, so I just ordered one from B&H. I'll give it a try and see if it fits the bill when I don't want to carry around my Nikon cameras.
The Sony RX1 is Not a pocket camera unless you have big pockets Lol!

Not sure what you are downsizing from, but the RX1 has a listed weight of 25-26oz. For comparison, the Nikon D5300 with a 35mm 1.8 lens weighs less. There are also light weight medium zooms weighing a little more. My D5300 with a 16-80 f2.8-4 zoom comes in about 32 oz. Just offering a point of comparison.
None of the listed above listed cameras are pocket sized! Try to compare any Small Point & Shoot to the Sony RX100 series footprint. They truly fit in my shirt pocket! I think that’s what the original poster wanted a small point and shoot camera with amazing specifications that would fit in his pocket. Just my opinion and I am an actual user!

And that's why I suggested the Nikon P7800 which I currently use for a "pocket" camera. Last I looked, there was a factory refurb on E-bay for $300.
That’s not even close to being a pocket camera Sir! No offense.

ME! Really?
I suggested a SONY RX100M5.
How much smaller a camera is there?
Of reasonable picture quality of course.
No Bro’ wrong guy. I meant the Nikon poster. You and I are in agreement of a true pocket camera. I don’t know why others keep talking about much larger cameras they consider pocket size Lol!
