Abandoned but not forgotten!

Yesterday I had a little photo shoot at a local abandoned landmark. It is the Strawn Citrus Packing plant, built in 1921 and home of the premium brand Bob White Oranges. The packinghouse, along with a nearby sawmill and other agricultural buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. Unfortunately the site is in a state of ruin. I chose to process these in B&W because I felt it fit the age and condition of the structures. I also have these shots in color and may post that version later. Please feel free to make any suggestions for improvement.

Ditto number three. What is growing up side? A tree? Is it a Vine? Looks like a palm, but "odd". Headed off when it got to sunlight. The storage tank is probably Gulf Cypress wood. Will last a long time.

Fascinating subjects with strong compositions. I find the water tower and palm particularly engaging. Re processing, I wonder about reducing the whites in the clouds (if you have detail there) so that the bright sky doesn't overpower the structures. #1 seems a little dark - always fun to figure out what works best on UHH's mustard yellow - and perhaps would benefit from more separation of tones?

Thank you, Ike! I haven't done much B&W so it is a new adventure for me.

Thank you, Frank! The water tower is set well back from the road and I almost missed it. I'm certainly glad I didn't!

Thank you, Stan! I am just learning to process B&W and I feel I need to do some studying. It's much more difficult that I though it would be.
