I read that you can use you canon EF lenses on this camera! Not a bad idea at all.
You do have but an addapter to use the EF/EF-S lens

I just read the first few lines, and it is a touch screen - Gaaaa. I wouldn't have it if you gave it to me. I'm like people are about fingernails on chalk boards, with finger prints on lCD's, gives me the doodlies.
Not a fan of touch screens myself. Give me a dial any day.
I think the younger ones may like it, but not me.
I shoot Canon (5D MII and 7D) and own a Sony NEX-7 for my vacation camera. I was hoping/looking forward to the Canon mirrorless camera.
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to compare well to my NEX-7: size, lack of lenses, no optical view finder, no articulating display, completely menu driven.
Because of the small size (larger than the NEX) the touch screen would be a problem as I have big hands. One of the few complaints I have with my NEX is that I have a habit of inadvertantly tripping the video button with my big mitt. I can't imagine having a touch screen.

I did not realize how many people really dislike touchscreens when I started this topic! As I think about it, I imagine it would be tedious trying to control most things with a touchscreen, but there may be times when selecting the focus point or metering point on the display would be rather handy, wouldn't there? Especially if you are shooting on a tripod? This particular camera is not what I was expecting, though. It seems that with the big sensor and price to match it shouldn't be so much like your mom's camera. What about a G2X with the EF-S mount and the finder from the A77?

I will switch to mirror less when they perform as well as a DSLR and have a slew of L lenses to fit them. In a bit of heresy I would also like them to have a battery grip to double their shooting capacity.

no view finder not for me
Same here. Even a slip-on for the hotshoe is better than none at all.
Tried out the Pellix in 1968. Hazy viewfinder image, and it blacked out anyway when the diaphragm stopped down.
Got the Canon FT model instead. Good camera for the time.
While the Pellix mirror didn't cause blackout, the viewfinder still went dark when the diaphragm stopped down. Also, the viewfinder was kind of hazy. Looked at it in 1968, and decided on the Canon FT instead. Good camera for the time.
Sorry, sent the message twice. My bad.
