So, Canon has finally introduced their mirror less camera, but it's aimed at snap shooters and has a list price of $799 with a 22mm kit lens. Is anyone else amazed at the high price, regardless of the sensor/features for basically an APS-C point and shoot camera? I wish I could put the Canon 18MP sensor in a Sony A77, with a Canon mount for about $1000. Now THAT would be the killer camera for someone like me!

Doesn't look to snazzy to me, not enough dials and stuff. All settings must be buried in the menus, or worse yet, a touch screen - Gaaaa. Anyway; I am not in the market for one nowhow.

PS: DuHH, I just read the first few lines, and it is a touch screen - Gaaaa. I wouldn't have it if you gave it to me. I'm like people are about fingernails on chalk boards, with finger prints on lCD's, gives me the doodlies.

Not a fan of touch screens myself. Give me a dial any day.
I think the younger ones may like it, but not me.

I shoot Canon (5D MII and 7D) and own a Sony NEX-7 for my vacation camera. I was hoping/looking forward to the Canon mirrorless camera.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to compare well to my NEX-7: size, lack of lenses, no optical view finder, no articulating display, completely menu driven.

Because of the small size (larger than the NEX) the touch screen would be a problem as I have big hands. One of the few complaints I have with my NEX is that I have a habit of inadvertantly tripping the video button with my big mitt. I can't imagine having a touch screen.

With an adapter it can use all Canon EF and EF-S lenses. But, that doesn't make up for the very un-pro-like user controls and lack of a viewfinder. If it were under $600 with the 22mm it would be more appealing. But, others are selling their CS cameras for similar prices so somebody must be buying them! I figure regardless of how small the body is if I mount my 15-85 on it it's still not a pocket camera. :-)

I wish Canon would hurry up with the 70D, there are so many conflicting reports on what its going to be. I'll give Canon this, they can keep a secret on whats coming

Canon was one of the first to use a pelical mirror in their cameras going back to the 60's. No mirror blackout was great for action shots. But it still has a mirror.

Canon Pellix

I think Canon missed the boat in many ways on this including Price.

how many of you said you would never give up film and go digital?

never say never!!

unfortunately, i think everything will eventually go to touch screens. ipad technology is going to take over everything.

i am no fan of touch screen anything.....

...........but it's going to happen.

maybe i should count all the things i am doing now that i said i would never do...or refused to do....

crow sure tastes funny.

i have made my living using computers the last 20 years or so.
not every upgrade i have seen has been for the better.

i just roll with the flow, i guess.

but i definitely do not like touch screens.
