JC,
I agree. For as long as it took them to come out with one, it's pretty underwhelming. No viewfinder & a touch screen for menu options. I traded-in my NEX-5 because it didn't have a viewfinder & bought the NEX-5N along with the optional OLED EVF that duplicates the NEX-7 finder. The 5N uses a touch screen menu but with the customization of the soft key buttons, I rarely need to use it.
I would hope that Canon is planning on a separate line of M-mount lenses. Folks complain that Sony only has eight dedicated E-mount lenses but I believe ther are more to come. If Canon is banking on the customer base to use the adaptor for EF & EF-S lenses, it's going to be a pretty bizzare set-up; huge lenses, tiny body.
It's a touch screen menu. Hate them.
No viewfinder. I do not believe sharp pictures come forth hand held from arms length. And with the sun at your back?
My opinion:
Overpriced.
Fundamentally Flawed.
Something Michelangelo never would have used.
Maybe not even Thomas Kinkade!

I can't imagine why anyone who owns a DSLR and assorted lenses would want this camera......especially at $799 plus another $200 if you want the adaptor that allows you to use your EF lenses! The touch screen alone is enough to deter any serious photographer from buying this. I only see this as an option for the point and shooters who want to upgrade to an ICL camera.
No kidding! The NEX, PEN, Nikon, etc mirrorless cameras have been out long enough that Canon's marketing people should realize they have to at least match those cameras if not exceed them for the price they're asking.

Strange choice for a name. I mean "Evil," not "Canon," although telling someone that you have an evil canon might get their attention. :D
EVIL (Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens) Camera
http://cameras.about.com/od/digitalcameraglossary/g/EVIL-Camera.htmWell, at least someone can't say something like, "What does your DIL do?"
I didn't see anything about a viewfinder anyway so I don't see where they get off calling it that. I can't understand putting out cameras without viewfinders...they are useless for most of the outdoors shooting I do. I know because I have a pretty good bridge camera one and hate it...never again.
From the Canon Ad I get the idea they are catering to video with these things.
I guess a well done touch screen might be all right...but smudging up your only sucky viewfinder all the time seems like a weak idea.
Guess I'm not on their customer list.

By lack of lenses I mean a dearth of native (non-adapter) lenses as compared to my NEX. Also, I have not seen a review of the adapter with respect to auto-focus speed which for Sony was/is a problem with their first generation adapter.
According to the hype this side of the pond Canon will not be including the adapter and/or new flash as part of the kit.
See:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/slr_cameras/eos_m_ef_m_22mm_stm_kit?WT.mc_id=EM1207EO05001#BoxContentDon't get me wrong, I am a Canon fan (own 10D converted to infrared, 5D, 5D MII and 7D plus in the market for a 1Dx and/or 5D MIII) but based on my experience with the Sony NEX-5 and NEX-7 Canon has missed the mark. I was so looking forward to this camera so I could better use my Canon glass as I am not fond of most of Sony's lenses.
The lack of an optical viewfinder and reliance on touch screen menu controls makes this camera fundamentally flawed in my opinion (which is based on my experience with the Sony NEX-5). The NEX-5 has an articulating display and less reliance on menu driven controls.
My hope is that Canon will learn and in their 3rd or 4th iteration come up with a useable mirror-less small bodied interchangable lensed camera.

It has to do with the editing people do when using "Quote reply". If one isn't careful about what is kept it can look like whatever is kept came from whoever was left first in the "[quote = Somebody]".
Using "Quote reply" is important so we have a clue as to what you are responding to. Your message may have dozens above it in the sequence.
Ooooohh K Thanks, Mtn Man.

Sorry dude, I cut & pasted thinking it would be in smaller font. My bad!!!
I can't imagine the reason I should get excited here. I would much rather see their R&D spent in image processing, more capable lenses, (still) better AF, and attention given to those things left, out in priority of customers who own their latest equipment. To hell with what Nikon is doing :!:
