Canon Nikon and all the others are just after the cell phone camera users. Thats the way they all take photos. Theres a lot of money to be made there. They all seem to have to get the latest phone on the market. The next thing they will add a phone to that camera. The real photographers will never give up their SLR. Just an old mans thoughs.

I still want a digital camera that looks and performs like a Leica M-6 and doesn't cost $6000. $600, yes; $6000, no.

I suspect they are listening to the users...by the numbers.

Look around any large gathering of people where they are taking pictures and compare the numbers of people taking pictures with their cell phones vs. those using cameras. Also note, of those using cameras, how many are waving around their P&S cameras looking at the LCD vs. looking through a viewfinder on a DSLR or other viewfinder camera.

I suspect the high end camera market is relatively small and that the population of people that use UHH does not represent the population as a whole. But the margins are large so it is still a worthwhile market.

I also suspect the manufacters of interchangable lens cameras know that once you buy one additional lens for your camera they most likely have you as a customer for life. Thus it is desirable for them to move some point-and-shooters to interchangable lens cameras if they can. I guess time will tell.

Robert,
Again, point taken, but another reviewer has a little bit better conclusion about the M than your "pocket-lint" website. In fact, the whole review sounds pretty good and another review I saw talked about the ability to see the screen in sunlight and had no problems. Here is the link for dpreview so you can read it yourself:

Just saw another hands on review:

A biggie for me is focus speed.....quote from the review:
"Introducing a camera system with a 1.2 to 1.7-second lag time into this market seems unwise."

This post makes me laugh. No one said that Canon was bringing out a Professional Grade Bridge - it's a mirrorless - let it go.
