Not sure a converter is a good idea. Might want to check compatibility as both the lens and converter could possibly sustain damage.

I thought the word "compatible" was implied.

I did the ring road in iceland with a 50mm on a full frame and an 11-16 on a crop. So I would lean towards the 24-70 mm.

Will be on a cruise from London to Iceland with stops in Wales, Ireland and Scotland. Iceland will be new for me and we have 4 stoops there. Due to many factors, I will take minimal gear. I have a choice of my 24-70 or my 70-200. If you had to choose, which would you think most important for the Iceland portion of the trip?

I would find some way to bring a telephoto lens. The 24-70 is crucial. But a small, slower telephoto would let you capture wildlife and detail.

Slam dunk flash for me would be the 24-70– but question: is this a full frame? If not, you need something wider or plan to shoot for stitching. I use a Fuji with an 18-55–and employed “the one camera one lens” approach on a recent trip to France. Did t regret not having my DSLR with a bag full of lenses. They are simply not needed.

I would opt for the 24-70. It will record scenes better

Absolutely.
When I can carry one lens with an unknown agenda the 24-105 is usually on the camera.

I bought a Nikon 28-300 precisely to meet this need, relatively inexpensive, excellent quality.

24-70 is all you need unless you plan on taking all of your pictures from the deck of the boat.

I've found that wider is usually more important than longer, and that 70-200mm lens is big and heavy. It's also not very good for shots in a close environment.

no one mentioned the 18-135 or Sigma has an 18-250
(these may be for aps-c sensors only)

save money used... Canon's 18-135 IS-STM is very inexpensive used,
maybe the nikon equivelant will be also??

Adorama has canon fit sigma 18-250 for 279.00 --

ps choice of the 2 mentioned- 24-70 for all the reasons everyone else mentioned and
you WONT be able to use the 70-200 in a room, or anywhere somewhat enclosed..

Would rent something with a little more reach then 70 mm. Omething that covers 24 to about 120mm. And also what's your favorite focal length to shoot. Mine is in the 80 to 100mm range. Filter all your 5 star photos by focal length and see what you shoot the most. And then make sure you have that focal length covered.

In Iceland used a 24 to 70 and a 70 to 200. I did very few wide shoots. But tharpts my style. If I would go today I would bring my Nikon 24 to 120mm f4 lens.

Have a great trip

Recommend Tamron 18-400 gives you choices and is lightweight

The lens on your super-zoom Pocket camera... 24-1200... Oh! OK! take along a 10X close up screw-on, a CPF, and to get fancy a split field. Leave the heavy stuff at home.

Agree with the 24-70 consensus. Wide for landscapes and maybe 35-70 for urban shooting and snapshots of people. Having a minimum of 70 really limits landscape and architecture shots.
