Concur on the previous recommendation of the Ho Rainforest in the ONP. Deception Pass on the road to Whidby Island is a really nice spot, take the boat ride, and as previously recommended, the Ferries out of Anacortes to the San Juan Islands are great. HWY 20 east out of Mt Vernon to North Cascades NP is also another great route. Could be cold, wet & rainy no matter where you go, just be prepared.....practice safe photography, use protection for your camera.
Highway 20 is closed during the winter months and according to the current report is still closed from milepost 134 to 171, with clearing now going on. This is indeed a beautiful route and well driving even a portion of it.
Snoqualmie Falls, about 35 miles east of Seattle, just off I-90 is wonderful and with spring rain and snow melt, there is probably a lot of water going over the falls now. Then you can take some back roads through Snoqualmie, Carnation, etc, back into Seattle. It would be a good day loop trip.
If you have not already been there, the exhibit/store of Dale Chihuly, located next to the base of the space needle has some great photo opportunities inside and outside. A good choice on a rainy day. Look him up on google.

The San Juan Islands, taking the ferry from Anacortes to Orcas Island, then Mount Constitution on Orcas, highest point in the Sand Juans. The last ferry stop is Friday Harbor on San Juan Island with lots of scenic spots on that island. Lime Kiln Lighthouse on the west side is one.
Stevens Pass in the Cascades has some nice scenery.
There is a large colony of bald eagles on San Juan Island and you can often see orcas just off the Lime Kiln lighthouse. We got closer views than any of the whale watching boats did.
Hurricane Ridge on the Olympic peninsula is fantastic....
If you get there soon enough and if the rain hasn't ruined the crops, head up North to LaConner area as the tulips and daffodils will are in bloom. I'm getting a kick out of all of us telling you to "pick a nice day". This time of year that might be a bigger challenge than finding interesting subject matter.
Google “Snoqualmie Falls.” They’re definitely worth a visit.

Love, the Ho trail in ONP. Been there more times than any other National Park. My Fav.
Hello PNW traveler, Pacific Northwest, you may want to check with the national park authorities to be sure they are open. Most do not open till mid May.
If that is the case, then the Washington State Ferries mentioned before is good photo choice going to The San Juans to Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor,
Orcas Island. Be sure to check out some of the restaurants on the islands. Here is another choice, Take I-90 east to Snoquaimie Falls and try to locate Twin
Falls and Franklin Falls, if you like water falls.
Hey here is another, ferry/drive to Port Angeles (Headquaters of Olympic Nat Park) and seek out Lake Cresent and if have time take a look at Merrymere Falls.
I like water falls, can you tell?
If the road is open, then seek out Hwy 542 from Bellingham to Mount Baker and check out "Artist Point" if opened. You will pass Picture Lake. Stop and be amazed.
There is a lot of stuff in Seattle to see such as "Ballard Locks", Space Needle (be prepared to spend$ if dinning on top).
Best advice is go to your local book store and research the area so you will have some knowledge prior to arrival in my and soon your best vacation
destination. Good luck, I am jealous.
Take the ferry boat ride over to the island that is in habited primarily by Germans. There are lots of unique shops and restaurants along with some great shots of the waterfront with all the boats very pretty.
Hey again, if you are going to spend up to 3 weeks in Seattle, I may recommend heading south towards the Columbia Gorge National Rec. Area, where the
Columbia River seperates Wash. from Oregon. Hundreds of photo opps and moderate hiking to see some of the prettiest water falls in USA. You can also drive
on the Lewis River Road (if open) for some great photo opps of the 3 primery water falls along the road. Spend some time in a small town of Hood River which is the kite sailing capital of the world. Be sure to research this area out because there is a lot to see.
Back to Washington for 1 more major place to see. This is Lake Chelan and the town of Stehekin at the upper end of the lake, (available only by ferry or float plane)
from Chelan. You will see alot of snow cap peaks from the ferry (about 3 hour ride each way or take a float plane back or vice-versa) I am still jealous.
By the way after reviewing my response, Lewis River Road is in lower Washington SE of Mount Rainier but an easy drive from Hood River, almost due east
of Mt. St. Helens. over and out.
