Would I Buy The Tamron 18-400 Again?...

Can anyone make a personal comparison between this lens and the 150-600 mm lens- in terms of image quality.
For starters, it depends on the majority of your use on a given session and how long you wish to carry the bigger lens. I prefer the clumsier G2 for a little more quality, but close-up opportunities are limited and the 18-400 is just fine.
Whats a good price for the 18-400? With the cost of camera gear these days.....I'm almost afraid to ask.

Are you finding that you are getting sharp, crisp edges. And if you do bird photography are you getting good feather detail? I have the D7500 and find it to be a very capable camera. I have been using the 70-300 AF-P lens with very sharp results but it isn't quite long enough- Thank you for your input.
Birding isn't my specialty but I've gotten some pleasing shots at the feeder (through the kitchen window and about 25' away) and more recently, from my bedroom window (much closer). All of these shots have been cropped at least 60% and all except the last two have been taken through the kitchen window. I've included the settings - hope it helps.

The 18-400 is $649 in the reputable shops I have checked. These guys are typically good for reference:

Thanks SueScott for taking the time to post your bird pictures. They look good!

Thanks! I'm not crazy about the BIF coming in to the feeder - it was more of an example of what a shot looks like at a higher ISO and extremely cropped - not the detail you're looking for but still not horrible.
Thank you to all for viewing and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.

Yes I would. I know there are many people who are considering this lens...and for good reasons. I think it is a good choice for zoos, botanical gardens with the possibility of birds or animals, and even landscapes. Here are more photos with this lens from my recent trip to Florida.
Yes !!! That's the most amazing lens I've ever purchased for the cost, the performance, and the fact that it's not a Canon lens!! Hell yes I'd buy it again!!
Outstanding! Everyone I know who has that lens is very satisfied with it.
You did very well with that lens as this series shows. Nicely done.
Great shots!!
I use a D5300 with my Tamron 18-400,and have a few posts on UHH with the shots that I have taken.
My complaint is that the auto focus,to me, is not as sharp as my Nikon 70-300.
Its versatility is great, and it is now my main walk around lens.

Images are terrific! How does the IQ rate at the extreme ends of the focal range? Say at 18mm and again how about at 400mm? Also when extremely wide open as to aperture?
Some softness would be likely with many lenses. Just wondering about this one also wondering about same with the 150-600 lens from either Tamron and Sigma which are so popular.
Thanks, Tom
