Two years ago my wife and I did a Canadian Rocky Mountain trip. We took the Rocky Mountaineer and it was fabulous. I highly recommend this trip but save your dollars and go "Gold Class".... domed car is worth it.

I have two and they are coast to coast. British Columbia and Newfoundland, Canada. I give the nod to Newfoundland.

What has been your paradise, so far?

For me, the NW coast of USA, California, Oregon and Washington. The ever changing weather conditions make these regions particularly spectacular.

Anywhere in the United States. Our country is huge and no matter where (literally) you go, no matter how obscure the location there is something breath taking to record.

Agree there, but US favorite is Acadia in Maine. The best description I have ever heard was from one of my boys when he invited a friend (we sometimes had as many as three of their friends at a time) was "yeah, you think there's nothing to do there, but we keep going back because we never finish doing it!" Been to over thirty states and all of the Maritimes (except PEI), and it is still my favorite.

Now, outside the US, Ireland is stunning - both for scenery and the friendliness of the people.

The American Southwest......the colors, especially the sky in NM, are phenomenal.

Globally, my favorite is the Blue Hills outside Sydney, Australia. Near the town of Leura. Great hikes, great rock formations and cypress groves. And, it's AUSTRALIA, Mate. The beer's great, the wine's even better.

Naturally I love Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada range for which she is the crown jewel. As a budding photographer, I learned much from my father at Lake George, NY. An East Coast analog to Tahoe in many ways--especially scale.

Totally agree on Australia! I took 800 photos one day just going to/from Rottnest Island via the ferry from Perth. Weeklong trips up and down the west coast.... so beautiful and interesting. Love the farm art, the geography, Indian/Southern Ocean!

My second place would be San Francisco.

As Mavrick said to Goose in the Top Gun movie as they enter a bar filled with beautiful women, "this is a target rich environment." Just love that scene. In photography, as in movies, we know when we are in a "target rich environment".
