I have one; brilliant piece of kit. Light, fast, and with the latest firmware version 4.You won't go wrong with it. Currently using a 16-55mm F2.8- spot on.

Have you used the 18-55? If so, do you notice the extra twice the weight of the 16-55?
Wait! VR on the 16-55?

Thanks all, Everyone's responses have supported the reviews I'm finding on this camera. I pulled the trigger on this at Adorama. Very reasonable price for a light travel camera which will take the quality pictures I'd like. I'm not too worried about video.

Video is not its strong suit, but it does do it.
My first camera with wifi- handy to transfer what I've shot to my iPhone.

Considering the Fuji X-E2s for a compact travel camera as the price is excelent currently. Just wanting some feed back as to pros and cons you may have and if you would consider anything else after using it?

Thanks,

Dave

I don't have the X-2ES, but if Fuji makes it, and you put the 18-55 on it, it is a winner. Fuji cameras are, in a word, ELEGANT, as in "mathematically elegant". They have the simplicity of really good design and function. And they have quality of build and materials. I dropped my XT-2 and the attached Nissin flash exploded on the kitchen floor, but the XT-2 was unharmed. My Nikons are now frustrating to use - so I don't. I want to get rid of them. Fuji has spoiled me.

Well-researched, David, and a good, solid choice for your needs. Fuji X-series cameras have quickly established an enviable reputation here in Europe, and it's great, at last, to see our American cousins beginning to catch on too. I've been a Fuji X user since 2013 (X-E1 and that same 18-55 f2.8 - 4 lens). The stabilisation works just a treat (see couple of pics from Christmas 2013 in central London's darkness and light, hand-held). Goofy Newfy and I have long chatted over this combination, and he's travelled UK, France and Low Countries with one camera and lens ...... and he takes some great shots !

I ditched all my Nikon full frame gear in 2016 for Fuji. Had the X-T1 (just a small, manageable and great fun-to-use dslr-like camera), got a great deal on the X-Pro2 (super difference from the new sensor), but longed for an X-T2. Here in the UK, and in west-European countries, there's an active used market. I was able to sell the X-T1 to a guy in France and the X-Pro 2 to a guy on my own doorstep ....... without worrying about ebay/PayPal fees etc. Love the T2 ..... just love it ..... and the recent firmware update to the AF capability has enhanced it even further. That's one of Fuji's great attributes ...... they listen to users and act upon what they learn. I have 3 XF primes, 23mm f1.4, 35mm f1.4 and the 56 f1.2. I gasp when I see the results from these lenses on my T2 ! Might need something a little longer, and that'll be the 90mm f2. That keeps things "small and manageable" but with image quality to die for. If you're an "ordinary" enthusiast, taking pics of anything, you'll soon fall in love ....... and maybe you, too, will be saying, as so many here do, "the FUN has returned to my photography".

If you follow Nikon guru Thom Hogan, as I still do, you'll see his many comments about "Nikon DX users flocking to Fuji" ........ yep ...... they are !!

And David, I was in N'Orleans twice, to the NADA convention - even took a ride on the steamboat "Natchez" !

The folks who have not tried the recent offerings from Fuji, have no idea what they are missing. The image quality and color! Talk all you want about the Nikon 810 and 850 and the advantage of all the megapixels, but the Fuji jpegs beat all! And the handling and controls, they make all the menu hunting a thing of the past. Anyone want some Mint condition Nikon gear, cheap?

I'm with you, Cat ! You gotta move with the times, if it suits your style. It does me ! Did you find the "even easier" way to change shutter speed in manual exposure mode? Put the ss dial to "T" and allocate ss control to the front or rear dial....... but you gotta be in full manual exposure mode. So quick, when it's needed ....... (sighs with "user content" !)

That’s a lot of information and thank you. I have a Canon 6d for my full frame needs and a 60d for sporting needs. Ive been watching the Fuji line for some time and wanted to try their mirrorless systems for awhile now. I was just waiting for them to mature and the price to come down some for my travel needs.

I tried the Canon gx7 mk2 with the 1” sensor but didn’t like the picture quality. I believe this Fuji system will fill my needs and hope to grow further with their future products.

I feared initially that the Fuji system would be a dead end - sort of niche system. But there seems to be a swelling number of people who really like what Fuji is doing, and their constant attention to firmware upgrades gives a really good feeling to customers about Fuji's responsiveness. I think the quality of build and the elegance of the Fuji products gives it an edge on Sony - the only other real competition in the mirrorless sector. And Fuji's background in professional cameras and lenses - adds "gravitas" to the probable trajectory of the line of "prosumer" mirrorless cameras.

What really sparked my interest in the Fuji brand is the way they continue to provide support in firmware releases to enhance products already purchased.

Keep us apprised of your experience with your Fuji, Dave. I suspect that you, like many of us Fuji converts, will be leaving your Canons in the drawer more and more. I used to love my Nikons, but I have been unfaithful. They are neglected and dusty now.

Will do, thanks again.
