Considering the Fuji X-E2s for a compact travel camera as the price is excelent currently. Just wanting some feed back as to pros and cons you may have and if you would consider anything else after using it?

Thanks,

Dave

Yes i have this Fuji. I took it to France for 10 days with only the 18-55mm OIS. I found it to be an excellent combination, small and unobtrusive. For the price I would not consider anything else—and fwiw, it’s 1/2 the weight of my D7100. It’s only 16 megapixels. Would I get something else? I will probably eventually get the XT-2, but it’s significantly more $s. I could have used a wide angle such as the 14/f2. Fuji glass is excellent. If you like jpegs, one camera in the ASPC format does a better job “SOOC”. I still shoot raw—but I can shoot raw and process any of the jpegs in the camera. In my opinion, it’s a excellent travel camera. Adorama also sells a Fuji compatible flash with Receiver. It’s the Flashpoint with the R2 transmitter. It’s a nice little combo. Let me know if you have specific questions.

Don’t have the 2s model but I love mine. I have the XE-2.
I absolutely love the way it handles and thhe interface is the best i’ve ever used.
The manual wasn’t even opened for a couple of weeks, very intuitive.
I too took my Fuji (XE1) to Europe with just the 18-55 and some of the images can be seen in my website link below.

If you’ve ever shot with an older film camera, it should feel familiar.
The kit lens is great and the 14mm f/2.8 is crazy sharp.
Fuji has been making cameras for years, a lot of them professional: lenses for large and medium format, they made the X-Pan for Hasselblad, and they also make great film (sorry Kodak, I liked Fujicolor better). So who better to combine the expertise?

The X-E2IV (firmware 4.0 upgrade) is nearly identical to the X-E2S.

I posted this reply on UHH - 10/20/17:

"I'm a Sony a6000 MILC shooter, who recently bought a Fujifilm XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 "kit zoom" that (fortunately) happened to have a mint Fujifilm X-E2 attached to it, when it arrived.

Then I found a Fujinon 27mm f/2.8 pancake lens at less than half-price, as well. That gave me the midrange zoom for travel, and a bonus "X100S wannabe". With the pancake, probably the easiest carrying compact camera (almost a pocket camera) in my experience. Hangs cross-body, under my left arm so well, I sometimes forget it's there."

I keep looking at the X-PRO2, but it's not in the same price category. Were something debilitating happen to the X-E2, I'd be shopping for the X-E2S. Simply the most fun digital camera I have. _Van

On December 5, I posted a topic in the UHH Buy/Sell classifieds saying that I was also looking for a Fujifilm X-E2S.
There have not been any responses. A cult favorite, perhaps? /Ralph

I recently bought an X-E2 with the 18-55 on the recommendation of a pro, and it is an amazing little camera (I mean “little” as in size, not performance). Small and light, beautiful color and IQ, excellent lenses and stabilization, and very intuitive menu and controls with a decent sized sensor. Highly recommended.

Thank you all for responding so quickly. The more I research this little travel camera the more great reviews I find about it. The price is right as well with the 18-55 mm lens. Looks like a fun camera to have.

I bought Fuji xe2s with 18-55 f/2.8-4 lens. I like it a lot. Image quality is great. The camera is not too small and not too light which I like it. The IQ is amazing, high ISO is excellent, the images are very sharp. I strongly recommend this lens 18-55. It has Optical Image Stabilization, it works very well. I took some shots at 1/6s, I could not believe it.
From Photozone.de :
“The Fujinon XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS may be the hottest reason to enter the Fuji system. It is amazingly sharp throughout the zoom and relevant aperture range”.
If you have some manual focus lenses you can adapt them on fuji. I have several Nikon MF AI-S lenses, I tried them all, they can’t match this Fiji 18-55.
If you like rangefinder style – this is a camera to consider.

The one Achilles heel for me: mine eats batteries...but it just might be a mirrorless thing.
I have a few brands and find the Fuji batteries seem to last the longest.
Fuji is amazing with updating software for their cameras!

I like this cheap case a lot https://www.ebay.com/i/162266287584?chn=ps
Protects the LCD.
People ask if I'm shooting film.
I've been toying with the idea of sticking on a rewind crank.

"A cult favorite, perhaps?" ~ I'd like to think of these little cameras in that regard. However, they're seldom mentioned in Fujifilm conversations, and even the factory reps cannot provide a reason why the X-E's "don't get no respec'". But, your X-100_ certainly deserves that title.

I shouldn't complain, as maybe that's why the price remains reasonable.

Like folks used to mount a giant key on the back ends of Volkswagen Beetles, making them look like wind-up toys.

I have one; brilliant piece of kit. Light, fast, and with the latest firmware version 4.You won't go wrong with it. Currently using a 16-55mm F2.8- spot on.
