But, did you notice this:
"Finally, I'll admit that I'm a bit torn myself about which mirrorless system to concentrate on in my shooting. Oh, a few I've managed to decide against:

Fujifilm X — I generally like the cameras and lenses, generally don't like the X-Trans sensor (other than for monochrome work). As much as the Fujifilm crowd has fawned over the focus, it still isn't at the same level as Sony or the best DSLRs. Close, but not equivalent. Moreover, as I bundled up the X options I liked most, I found I was getting a bit on the heavy side while not having the telephoto options I really need. I made a decision early in the year to sell off most of my X system and just keep a couple of lenses so I could evaluate future X models."

Thom's a pro photographer. He has an interest in mirrorless "for his own use". First it was micro4/3, now it's the expensive (for most) and "very best" Sony FF range. He is entitled to his opinion about the X-Trans sensor, Fuji focus etc. He's also been used to the focus systems of the best Nikons. So he goes with the very best mirrorless. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm a simple enthusiast and can't even get tax relief on the gear I purchase. I live, and shoot, in a different world to Thom. My personal needs are not based upon the same demanding criteria he places on equipment for himself ...... and I think many of the Nikon DX users who have flocked to Fuji are more like me than him ! Read what his major gripe about DX is ....... the lenses ...... or lack of them, and the apparent lack of interest in them from Nikon top management. He's also the first to admit that, even in the short life of Fuji's XF lens range, the "set" available to DX (APS-C) users already far outstrips what's available for enthusiast DX users. And he LIKES the XF lenses !

And his is but one opinion ...... that of "pro Thom", who, let's face it, LOVES his exotic telephoto Nikons. He says about Fuji telephotos " I found I was getting a bit on the heavy side while not having the telephoto options I really need" ...... strange utterance from a Nikon guru who knows that high quality long lenses are going to be heavy ! Methinks the Sony telephotos are going to be just as heavy as Fuji's ! The people who are buying Fuji also include many pro photographers, of many different genres, and there are those pro's who get great pics with the XF telephoto (100-400). But the majority who are "flocking to Fuji" are just "ordinary users". Thom's also "gone quiet" on his sans-mirror website....... something about a Sony deal (note Sony FF again !) that won't last long, and has made no contribution to the site for a number of weeks. No mention by him of the latest firmware upgrade to the Fuji he likes best (X-T2) which has significantly increased AF capabilities in continuous focus mode ! Isn't he a wildlife and landscape photographer? Perhaps he's having second thoughts !

And yeah, much as I respect Thom, and although I have a bald head which loses much heat at this time of year, my ability to think for myself is not lost either ! I ditched Nikon and chose Fuji for my own reasons ..... not because someone else told me to or suggested that I do it for their reasons. Heck, I don't have a lens longer than the unbelievable XF 56mm f1.2. Heavy? The word doesn't even enter my photographic vocabulary ! I listened to Thom and got stuff "good enough" for my own personal needs, but don't have to take as gospel every word he utters !

My "honeymoon period" with Fuji began in 2013. I might even have been deemed "polygamist" until mid-2016 when my other partner (Nikon) was cast into the wilderness. Now I'm well and truly "married" to Fuji ........ and believe that many more Nikon and other DSLR owners are following suit.

Talk, talk, talk from Nikon observers about a new mirrorless. Lots of "doubting Thomases" from those who watched their inept attempt with their first J1 and V1...... remember those high prices they were asking? Not to mention how much ground Nikon has lost to Fuji, micro 4/3, Sony in the field. Here we are in Jan 2018 and still nothing ....... not even a road map.

Fuji honeymoon over? I think not, my friend !

"Balance" is also important when making comparisons.

Nikon's first DX DSLR was the D1, launched June 15th 1999. The current "best" Nikon DX camera is the fabulous D500.

Fuji entered the APS-C (DX) world with the X-Pro1 on Jan 9th 2012.

That's quite a start that Nikon had, no one can deny it !

And yet, in his "Year End Comparitor" (certainly a word I'd never seen before, and not in the Oxford English dictionary) Thom Hogan deems it important enough to compare the Nikon D500 and Fuji X-T2. I see that as quite some achievement by Fuji ...... being compared (almost a which should you buy?") with the D500 after only 6 years R&D.

Again, I cannot over-emphasise the importance of buying "what's right for you". Reviews and the opinions of others are simply there to help guide each of us to our own conclusions.

But, if it interests you enough, do take a quick read of what Thom says as he compares the D500 and X-T2 ......... very interesting !

Are you still selling your x-e2 body? If so how much? I'm thinking i'd like a second for my daughter. She loves mine. :)

All of the Fuji X cameras are excellent. I've been using an X-E1 and X-T1 since they came out and I love them both. The image quality is superb, and the X-E1 in particular feels very "Leica-like" in performance.

I just purchased a Factory Refurbished X-E2 kit because I wanted an extra 18-55, it came a few days ago. I intended to put the body up on ebay, but if you would like it, or if anyone here would like to have it, just drop me a note. It comes with a 3 month transferable factory warranty.
Body still sealed with original box.

I recently bought a Sony A6300, late last year. I have no regrets, but based on what I’ve been reading, the XE-2s would have been my choice if I’d known about it at the time. I don’t know how the two compare, but it sounds like the Fuji is a class act.
