Have to agree. Read "Chasing the Scream" about how the gov. made MJ a monster in the 20's and 30's.....and so on up until now. Anslinger (not sure of the spelling of his name right now) like Hoover, made a reputation based upon creating monsters which only he (they) could hold at bay, and thus make him (them) indispensable and in power.

and now we have a yahoo from Alabama says the same thing, I was told that the Greatefull dead concerts were all mellow because of all of the pot smoke.

Anyone that equates MJ with Heroin is a dam fool, and too many them in congress and Government

Jeff Sessions just yesterday turned back the clock and rescinded the hands off states policy Obama placed, and he did this because of his personal stand and vendetta! My guess is the Feds will ignot=re this creepy little man (during confirmation hearings he was caught lying three times and stopped hearing questions with "You make me nervous"!)

Thought of the day:

You put five rednecks in a room with a gallon of whiskey and there will be a fight and property damage!

You put five pot users in that same room with an oz. of good pot and they'll form a band!!

If we didn't have this archaic view of plants and treatments used around the world we wouldn't be stuck with pills and more pills peddled by Big Pharma.
Plants animals like monkeys are the basis of a lot of our made up drugs. Vitamins are attacked in the US. Weed is just a plant. The oil is extracted
just like oils are extracted for foods et. Our society is so up tight and controlled that they don't want to admit their are other treatments that don't
fit in with the drug industrial complex. We have friends from South America and the players use oils rubbed in injuries from playing soccer.
They work. If a veteran want's to use weed or a person with cancer wants some relief why would we care.

I don't know how to assess the use of it but a story in todays paper said a WV State Trooper arrested a trucker on the interstate last night for being high on marijuana. It said the over the road trucker came up to almost touching the rear of the troopers car with bright lights on. The trooper turned his blue flashers on and the truck backed off. When the truck passed the trooper it had some lights not working so they pulled him over. He was obviously high so he was arrested and they removed 3 bags of weed from the truck. It may be something that is helpful to some people but there needs to be a way to keep it away from active drivers - any use in public should be questioned!

...and then we have, in the mix, the "moral police" and the fear-of-the-other (racism). Education is the answer, or at least one of the best solutions....but as long as we're caught up in so-called political solutions there will be no change.

There is no way to keep anything harmful away from fools ("child-proof caps" on medicines work and frustrate the rest of us). Fools will drink and drive, text and drive, fall asleep and drive. The problem isn't the existence of booze and drugs, it's the existence of "fools".

I'm amazed at the negative comments about the legalization of marijuana in California. Abuse of alcohol causes violence and traffic deaths, yet it has no benefits. People who drive while high can also cause traffic deaths, but pot has proven medical benefits. Consider the millions of dollars wasted by law enforcement pursuing pot users. Among of the supporters of pot laws is the for-profit prison industry and the politicians who support it. It's to the benefit of both of them to get as many people as possible into prison, so decliminalizing pot is going to hurt them financially.

Jerry's illogic could be applied to everything that is illegal. Simply make everything legal and there would be no crime, no prisons and no need for police. Think of all the money we could save!

I didn't want to get into this but I guess I can't help it. Alcohol or marijuana is no the comparison both are bad habits and cause accidents and havoc.
I spent a number of years picking up both after the 911 call. I feel that 1 the use of alcohol if used in small or moderate amounts can relax you with out being impaired, with marijuana the intent is to get high I didn't see a half way. When both are used to the impairment point you know the person is drunk and will try to help and step-in but with marijuana the only part of the person gettin hit is his brain, walks and talk well. He get in his and drives off with his brain a block behind the car. About that time we get the call. I have no problem with proper use of drugs.

Certainly can't (and won't) argue with any of that......AND, many accidents are caused by bad driving. We have a daughter who, with no drugs or alcohol involved, is a danger to self and others just because she doesn't pay enough attention....generally. (not just in driving). She can pass a driving test but after that others should beware. Same thing with "parenting". Some people should quite simply NOT be parents.....especially early on.....but......! etc. Add any form of "drug" to this dynamic.....? So, it's NOT about the availability of "stuff" it's about the irresponsibility of individuals in our society. There is no law that can be considered or passed that will solve any of this. At base, some monkeys are dim wits.

I do not use pot, either medicinally, or recreationally, but my ex-wife, a victim of fibro-mialgea, does. Big Pharma, her doctors, and the medical profession, generally, are unable to assist her with any of her aches and pains (many, and quite debilitating), but pot can. Naturally her doctors tell her it is "all in her head", because ONLY Big Pharma can make pain killers that work! I was diagnosed with multiple-sclerosis in 1995, and was advised by two different neurologists, that if the pain got too great, to consider pot as a natural, and non-invasive cure. I've never tried it, but I do keep it in mind.

On the flip-side of that issue, I have known many loud, boorish, offensive drunks, but have never known a loud, boorish, offensive pothead!

The bottom line is that if the people want to do something they are going to do it irregardless of what Washington says.... Prohibition worked out well, right ? Its over folks, the Genie is out of the bottle and only a matter of time irregardless of what Sessions says or does. He is a dollar short and a day late; accept the realities and formulate sensible laws as to usage.
