I don't know what I'm supposed to have "instigated", this began with a discussion about the legalization of pot. no where was anything said about "right", "left", or "guns".

You certainly are an expert instigator! Well done!

Apparently, reality is a such difficult thing to deal with for these last three generations (since the '60's)...realities such as education, work, responsibility, family and 'life' in general.....all those 'things' that make life challenging, hence the rise, acceptance and approval of Marijuana and other drugs to escape that reality.....besides, isn't reality way over rated and besides, who really needs it anyway!!!

Oh well, and thanks Jerry, 💣☺....enough of this drug talk, time to go take some photos of.......reality
Apparently, reality is a such difficult thing to d... (show quote)

Apparently I missed half of your conversation. Read it on down in another quote reply. I agree with what was said about functioning, responsible adults.

Well me too. The "escapes from reality" didn't begin in the 60's however.....it began when we came down out of the trees.

I think the poster was referring to Jerry, who started this discussion. Read the quote.

Ah, doesn't matter I don't want to get caught up in an uproar about anything. That's why I don't do "social media" to begin with.......and why I most often don't check into UHH. My chain gets pulled and off I go......frustrated introvert who stays quiet on the sidelines, but now and then has to "bark".
I'll just sit over here and gnaw on a chew toy.

Would they raise the rates just assuming there would be an increase in accidents, or are they using it as an excuse to make more money? Did they raise rates when cell phones and texting became popular, too? I think they should raise the rates for people who have accidents and cause the companies to pay out, rather than raising rates for everyone. I wonder if they lower the rates for dry counties, where drinking is not allowed.

I’m not naive . But the reality is that there will be more stoned drivers on the road . So as the Insurance companies gear up for the increased payouts , and they will , one thing is for sure ; I have to pay more .
I also think texting while driving should be treated like a DUI/DWI . It’s insanley dangerous , and has also raised the accident rates .
It’s not booze , pot or cellphones , the problem is ignorant people . And someone is going to pay for that ignorance one way or another .

Absolutely agree.....not sure about the "more stoned drivers" part, I mean they were out there long before MJ was "legal"in Colorado......but the "ignorant people"? Well, I think we have a epidemic of them these days. In Denver (and the Springs) you can usually spot 'em, they're the young males in BMWs who feel entitled to own-the-road (watch out for ME! types).

We tried the alcohol ban back in the 1920s. Does anyone remember how well it went?

Actually if you had pursued your idea you would have discovered that the ban on Marijuana followed the end of the prohibition. The whole thing was political in order to keep the Federal Bureau of Narcotics alive... It helped the FBI too.

Reasons for it?

A sinister murder event coming out of Florida about a Marijuana addled man (Victor Licata) was used to start the whole thing. While already mentally ill and recognized as such he became the poster boy that fed a media frenzy. The public hysteria was further fueled by the Federal Bureau of Narcotics director's outlandish statements.

Prior to that no one even saw Marijuana as a problem worth looking at. The US forced other countries to place a ban on it using hardball diplomacy and economic pressure. First two to cave in were... Mexico and Canada!!! Guess why?

Since then millions have paid for the hypocrisy behind the 'ban'. Only difference? Marijuana was not as common as alcohol so one cared about this as much as they cared about their 'nightcap'.
