We have all seen thousands of pictures of the moon or egrets or great blue herons. Are we supposed to continue to admire the same old same old. I would like to see, instead of a demonstration of competence with tired subjects, something new in the photo section. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Personally, i love seeing other pics of the moon. As one interested in astrophotography it becomes an obsession of mine to get the best shot of a subject as possible. In the case of the moon there are many reasons why the shot may not be that perfect one and when others post their images, I look to see if they have mastered the challenge. I would bet for one reason only, (seeing conditions) you could look at 100 shots of the moon and only see a few perfect images. I for one am still on that quest.

I haven't seen too many moon photos like this one, a few more wouldn't trouble me at all.

Well I do hope that you realize that your posting on griping about repetitiveness is posted twice,,. I personally like to view other peoples moon pics, as a way to get an idea perhaps to improve my own. constructive criticism can be a very useful tool, criticism about seeing the same thing over and over ,well thats on you , don't look if your tired of the subject . Get out and find what YOU like, photograph it, process it , post it, pay attention to the critique and improve. It is notable that you have been a member here for a while now without posting a single pic, get out and try to find something that does not have a egret, blue heron, puppy dog, kitten , moon etc as a subject , and take a picture of it and post it for us all.

You know, the tendency is to photograph what we like and as the gentleman from California said actually there is not something new to photograph. We can do variations of what we shoot, we can photograph under different lighting conditions, we can use creativity by several means but at the end we are photographing something that someone else photographed already.
Shots of the moon in general tend to be boring for just one reason, attention is concentrated only in shooting a big moon. Add interesting subjects in the foreground and it is a totally different shot that appeals more to the eye. Variations on what we shoot is what makes photography interesting. The subjects remain the same.

I live in Arizona, we don't get a lot of Cardinals etc, but I enjoy the locals . . . meet Chuck, a Chuckawalla, and his sweetie

My screwed up moonshot (still trying to figure out what happened) and a friend’s post after I bemoaned my photo inadequacies: (sometimes all you can do is laugh at yourself)

I shoot 95% landscapes and the photo's are a reason to be out looking at nature and seeing new things. I really like southern Utah because it is easy to turn a corner and have a beautiful view. Some places you can close your eyes point a camera an unknown direction, press the shutter button and have a good chance of having a good picture.

Next time you're in Washington, DC, get some photos of politicians in (in)action.
