Over the months I have been viewing UHH, I've seen lots of posts and photos indicating that some members have not just one or two, but many DSLR bodies. I'm curious if this is something necessary for the kind of photos they need to do, or just a trail of GAS? If you have several bodies (camera bodies, that is) do you use them all? How do you use them differently? Thanks

I must be in the total minority...a neanderthal so to speak. I have only one in use camera and one lens. I do have a film camera but haven't used it in 10 years.

I've got 4 dslr bodies also (D90, D3300, D500 & D810) I do use them all depending on the shoot, location and conditions. Currently saving up for a D850.

My main camera is the Nikon D500 with the 200-500 attached. My carry camera on a spider holster was a Sony A77II with a 18-250 sony lens attached. Now my holstered camera is a D810 with a 28-300 Nikon lens attached. That is my wildlife kit here in Florida. My landscape kit is the D810 with the Nikon 16-35 f4 with NiSi filters, a mess of them.
When I travel I take only point and shoots and my phone. My two favorite travel camera's are, The Sony HX 90 V with the Zeiss 24-720 lens and also has a pop up view finder, and my Sony Rx100M2.
I will stop here on mentioning any further equipment cause I will not embarrass my self. I am very, very, very lucky to be married to the most understanding wife in the solar system.

I don't stockpile photo gear. If I find that I'm not using something enough, I sell it. I have a D40 and D70 converted to IR. My main camera is a D750. I had two, but I found I was always using one, so some lucky buyer got the other one on ebay. I also have a D5300. I also have a Sony A6000 and a few older compacts.

I have seven Dslr bodies and it is more than I need. Some came with used lenses I bought, others I have bought because I kind of need them
Then I have some mirrorless cameras and a bridge camera and some point and shoot cameras and some film cameras as well. It adds up and I think I have more cameras then I will ever need.

As many as I need plus a body or two more. Nice and vague the way I like it. To paraphrase my good friend DaveO, more than enough to have my wife roll her eyes and shake her head.

Let’s think.... it all started with a Fuji bridge camera can’t really remember the model number. Liked the Fuji so much started stalking the Fuji s3 pro on eBay till I finally got a good deal. Now with that camera entered the nikon f mount lens cause it’s built in an old nikon film body. So naturally that led to finding a nikon film body that matched it because I liked the way it felt. Then I got such a great deal on eBay with this lot of old nikon film cameras couldn’t pass that up. Think I managed to make 3 good cameras from the parts. I then heard about mirrorless cameras. Wow! Back to eBay till I found a reasonably priced Fuji xe1. Then a lens different mount. Then I decided that one is just a little small for my hands. So I picked up a nikon d3300 at a discount store from a amazon return. At least it can use the same nikon f lenses. Ok ok what’s that? Full frame you say? Well now. Got a Nikon D810 through a rewards program with my cruise line $1000 off the kit package. This incited a whole flurry of fx lens buying but that is a story for another day. Ok I’m done no more camera stuff. Dang. Well except for bags straps tripods monopods etc. and I might be back on eBay searching for a Fuji xt10 but I totally will sell the xe1 if I get one. No really I will. Do GoPro’s count as cameras or video? And well that new D850 does do I few things my D810 won’t.... I lost count along the way oh well

Jerry, please respond via pm if you prefer. Do you find that your equipment brings good prices on ebay and doesn't ebay assess a percentage of the sale price as a commission?

I have partial gas. Nikon D90 to a D7100 because of significant improvements. A Fuji X-T2 because it's mirrorless, and a Canon advanced pocket G7X because more features than my smartphone.

I only have one; the Nikon D850. Thinking about a Canon g1x iii when I want to lighten my load but waiting for more reviews. Otherwise, maybe a Canon g7x ii or Sony rx100 v.
