That's a nicely organized site, David. Thank you. Yes, you get to the point where it's pretty much impossible to convert.

I've been using Zenfolio for many years and find it to be very satisfying for what I do with my photos. Many of my photog friends use it as well. Smugmug has 5 plans vs 3 for Zenfolio. Both services offer monthly and annual plans. Smugmug is slightly less expensive but I think Zenfolio offers you more control over what you can do. Check out the plans and see what will work best for you. Good luck.
Ditto re Zenfolio -- I used to use SmugMug, but I switched to ZF several years ago because it looks a lot better and a lot easier to use and customize.

I'm not looking to sell my work but I'd like to easily share my photos with friends and family. I'd like to allow access for viewing only as well as choosing images I'd allow others to download. It seems like a lot of Hoggers use Smugmug but for an enthusiast is that the best site? What other sites do people use? Are there any free sites or is it worth it to pay for a Smugmug subscription?
I decided not to use smugmug for cost reasons.
But I will tell you after examining other sharing sites that offer sales and download delivery Smug mug Is 5 star, too notch ready built turn key site.
It has EVERYTHING YOU NEED but that comes at a price. I find the annual costs too high.
I also don't like the commissions paid to the site for my sales.
Sorry, I can't give you any alternatives. As you asked.
But you won't beat the technical prowess of this site easily.. the LOSS LESS photo quality, the 3rd party supported apps for bulk loading, the download delivery choices as well as blocking protections and sales options make it a top tier program worth the price for a business.
If you are not concerned with sales or delivering content to clients and solely want to display your work -inexpensively - there are better choices for you.
We eventually dropped Zenfolio due to the cost, and went to SmugMug. Both are excellent. FAA (Fine Art America) is the cheapest of the lot.

I like your site. Thank you for sharing.
I am a Smugmugger .... I am happy... I have been on Flickr and DropBox and I think Google - i end up posting too much and then it costs lots of money - Smugmug is turn key- their customer service/support is AMAZING -- you have the option to customize your site so many ways - i don't love paying for a site, since i do, it's great - i post my jobs, personal and misc .... it can be private - you can share all - totally up to you. 5stars for sure!!!

I will second that. Thier support is absolutely AMAZING!! I FORGOTabout smugmug's amazing support. They can easily explain anything and with pictures!! They have FAST HELP FOR ANY PROBLEM.
It's a five star comoany. It really is. It just depends if your at a level that can support their annual fees. But without any doubt ..smugmug is worth paying for.

The free version of Flickr is very limited in what it can do. I think it only allows for 200 photos, 5 Albums, and no hierarchical structure at all. It wouldn't be enough for me, which is why I have a paid subscription.
I believe the free version give you one terabyte of storage, more than adequate for most of us.

I used Google Photos until they screwed it up a couple of years back. I now use Flickr and am quite happy with it.

OK, only a few are showing their pages. So far, .pbase and Flickr. What about examples of the rest?
I used Flickr for years at work and home.
I had issues almost every time I uploaded to Flickr....missing files, re-ordering...
Looking to improve the workflow and update our look for work, I explored SmugMug.
It loaded a lot easier, worked and looked better.
Support was freakin' amazing!
Very personal and friendly.
I wanted to work for them when I retire.
We wrestled with our admin about getting a SmugMug account, but they wouldn't let us.
So now we use Google at work, and so do I.
Support from Google? Not really any to speak of, but it does work.

I notice no one has mentioned SlicPic. I used their free version for a couple of years then upgraded to the next level (I think it’s now about US$50 per annum. Similar to others have mentioned, their email support is fast and helpful when needed. I’m about to start using the password protected facility (for private family pics).
I’m not the smartest computer savvy guy around but find it pretty simple and fast to upload and I think $1 a week is pretty good.
I also use it as an off-site back up of about 2000 pics that aren’t visible publicly.
As family friends and relatives are scattered around the globe, when we return from a trip anywhere we just send out an email and they can keep track of our tripping.
I don’t offer any pics for sale but do get the odd request. I usually just send anyone asking a free jpg file with a note saying I’d like a credit if that’s applicable.
Can you post one of your urls to look at?
