Shutterbug is currently offering to its customers a one year subscription for $15, two-year for $20, three-year for $32; the latter comes to $8 per year.

Thank you for the info on the magazine. But there must be a typo someplace as $32 for three years is $10.67 a year, not $8, and 67-cents a year more than the two year price.

Been a Shutterbug subscriber for years. More of a pro photography approach the now defunct Popular Photography which was more consumer/amateur in its coverage. They duplicated each other a bit. I also subscribe to Outdoor Photographer which is slanted to my landscape and nature photography interests. Shutterbug is good. Outdoor is better some ways but limited in coverage. I like having a print document to read and hold and then store for too long!

Excellent. It is more focused on actual photographic talent than computer gimmickry. I had subscribed to a magazine which featured outdoor photography, but half the pix looked anything but natural or outdoors-y. Purple sunrises? C'mon. And ShutterBug doesn't look down their noses at film photography, which I like to shoot from time to time just to keep economy of captures in mind. If I take a bad shot, so what? I try to learn from it. I don't say, "Back to the lab!" -- Jamesh

Hi fellow hoggers,
Do any of you subscribe to Shutterbug mag. How would you rate it?
Thanks in advance,

Rich

Rich, I don't subscribe to any magazines, don't recall I ever have. Today if I need to know something I simply research it on the internet.
I find magazines to restrictive. The likelihood that they have what I need or want to read is not likely.
I like looking at the pictures, but there are way more on the interenet!!!

Yes, there is something about holding a magazine or book and turning pages. I still only read real books and will likely do so as long as I can see.

I take it; good for technical stuff. Also take Outdoor Photography; enjoy it more as it is more what I'm interested in. Both good IMHO.

It is a good photography magazine, but after signing up on a two year subscription (best value), I started getting renewal notices after six months. Got to be a frequent pain, so upon sub ending I did not renew.

No doubt. They will not last forever. Probably won't sign up for more than a year at a time in the future, unless the difference is pennies. We shall see!

I recently let my subscription end. It's a basically good magazine, and I will certainly miss some of the columns and articles. My reasons for dropping it were twofold. First, I found I was only reading about half of the magazine, because so many articles were aimed strictly at the professional photographer, the business aspect of photography or reviews of stuff I would never be able to afford. Second, I subscribe to Photo Plus, the UK Canon magazine, and that's expensive, so I figured something had to go--Shutterbug and Outdoor Photographer. However, I would encourage anyone to subscribe. Try it and see if it meets your needs.
