A lot of people swear by Peak Design, but I have found Op Tech more suited to me... cheaper pricing, made in the USA, versatile and very well constructed, I love that the parts all interchange and I leave the strap lug attachments in place and they out of the way when not in use.

The main thing is I keep my tripod socket free for attaching to whatever system I am using for that situation. Even though I wanted to stay with one type of quick release system, I ended up with 2 different Manfrotto ones just because of the tripod system or head I employ.

Try the new Leash by Peak Design. Light and pack able. Just got mine and love it!

Peak Design has recently introduced Leash which is narrower than Slide. It can support up to 200 lbs, is comfortable and lot easier to stuff in a camera bag. I've switched from Slide to Leash and like it.

Joby makes a handstrap that connects to an "ultraplate"

This plate allows you to attach any sling. I use black rapid yeti that comes with sports sling so you can use 2 cameras / lenses or attach the sports sling to go under your armpit to hold the sling in place. I think its exactly what you are asking for.
