Another boring sling question...

I carry my Sony A77 in a backpack. I have wrist strap. I'm getting somewhat tired of taking the camera out of the bag each time I wish to take a shot, hence the sling topic.
So, is there a camera sling that will accommodate a wrist strap? Do I even need a wrist strap using the camera sling? My goal is to carry the camera in the bag with the sling attached. Ideally, the body sling could separate from the camera when re-bagging. Nagging question I know, I want to do it right the first time. Hope you members can steer me in the right direction for purchase. PS I've been thru the Amazon camera sling line up several times, came up short each time in making a selection. Any direction provided in this request is greatly appreciated. Thank You~!

I think the Peak Design strap would suit your purpose. I use it or sometimes a Black Rapid to carry my DSLR when out and about. I occasionally use a hand strap (but for my left hand leaving my right hand free). I have one from each company.

I use the Peak Design Slide for my Canon 5D IV. There is also a Peak Design Slide Lite for Mirrorless. These are cross-body straps and they are easily detachable. Check out their website www.peakdesign.com. Black Rapid has made some changes since I bought mine around 8 years ago but they also make cross-body straps. Hope this helps you.

Whats wrong with the good old neckstrap (still the best way of carrying a camera)?

I have a Peak Slide for my 7200 and am quite happy with it - it is far more comfortable than having "the Beast" hanging from my neck and saves on chiropractic visits! A down side is that it is a bear to stuff into my small camera bags.

I have used a sling (cheap knockoff of the Black Rapid) with my A77ii and a 70-300mmzoom with good results. No need for a wrist strap.

Look at Op-Tech USA

Multiple types of sling straps that connect and disconnect at the camera lug attachment, wrist strap clips onto same attachment. I have multiple styles of Op Tech slings and straps. Very versatile and comfortable.

I second the Peak Design. The Slide is a very comfortable strap and they have interchangeable 'cuff' and 'clutch' models. The little anchors stay on the camera and you can change the strap in seconds.
I got the 'Slide' for my A7Rii. It is very comfortable, but takes up a bit too much room in my bag. I got the narrower 'Slide Lite' model last week and I think it is all I need. If you are interested in the full size 'Slide' model drop me a line by PM.

I also own and shoot a lot with my Sony A77II. I use the spider belt holder. I will include the link, mine is different than the one in the link I will provide, but they have several models. Point is I have my Sony on the spider and also hand carry my D500 with 200-500 attached. I have the 18-250 attached to the Sony, so when I need a wider lens, I just switch. If you are just carrying the Sony, you will not even know you have the camera when attached to your waist. It is really great, and comes with a release you have to push to remove the camera so it is secure when walking around. Now you can be a modern day GUN slinger. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/762513-REG/SPIDER_HOLSTER_800_Black_Widow_Holster.html

I have the OP/TECH Utility Strap Sling (D750), and I see they also have a Mirrorless Sling.

Peak Design has recently introduced Leash which is narrower than Slide. It can support up to 200 lbs, is comfortable and lot easier to stuff in a camera bag. I've switched from Slide to Leash and like it.

I use BlackRapid wrist Strap and Sport Sling. I use a Really Right Stuff camera plate that has a hole in it for their military grade quick release. I put one of the QR connectors from RRS onto the BR connectors and can switch connections in seconds. That said I use a wrist strap when shooting for relatively short timeframes and the Sport when I am out shooting for a long time and walking around a lot. You can get by without the wrist strap but I find it worth the investment. Check out the BR and RRS websites. Great quality stuff.

Best,
Todd Ferguson

I use a Peak Design Capture Pro clip and leash. Clip is on my belt. Leash is only to stop a camera fall. Sometimes, I carry an extra lens or two using a Peak Design "Capture Lens". I carry small accessories in a small belt pack. Bottom line: Nothing swings about and a light jacket hides it all. Their Anchor Links makes it easy to attach/detatch straps. I don't recommend the cheap imported imitation clips. They look almost identical, but a sharp rap can unlock and detach the camera without warning.
