Jerry, I can't say enough good about AAA.
I had National Motor Club for years and used it once. I needed a jump start. They sent a cab. He made me pay upfront. Gave me a receipt. I misplaced it and ended up sending it in about four months later. They said I only had three months to send it in for reimbursement!
At least AAA pays the bill for services and doesn't expect you to pay and get your money back, maybe.

As I said earlier, if all the towing companies are busy, it doesn't matter if it's AAA or Good Sam. There's no one available to help you.
I have always used my auto insurance policy for roadside assistance (mine is Liberty Mutual). I've had 6+ occasions to use it. It is reliable and easy. Only negative, on one occasion, was the long wait period for assistance to arrive.

We have two 2015 Honda Fits that will be covered for another month. After that, I will have to select a company for a roadside assistance contract. I know from past experience that all the plans use the same local towing companies, so that's not a deciding factor. Any opinions on good or bad plans or options?
I to would recommend AAA for both towing but more importantly they offer a myriad of travel services that comes with membership.

Thanks. We used to get maps and travel books from. We even had them plan a couple of routes for us - before the arrival of GPS.
I have had AAA for years. Years ago I had the mid-level service which, when I had signed up for it, covered motorcycles. Battery died on my MC, called them for a jump, was told the mid-level didn't cover MCs anymore, I needed the high price service. However, when my daughter locked herself out of her car, I called AAA and they sent someone out to open it as long as I was there. Most years I don't use it at all but a couple of years ago I had to call them four times for various reasons. Got a letter from AAA that I had reached the maximum number of service calls and if I called again they wouldn't respond. I would be on my own. I got pissed off and didn't renew the roadside service. I have my home and cars insured with AAA and the premiums for those went up because I didn't get the discount for having their roadside service. So I renewed the roadside.

I knew about the limit on the number of calls when I had AAA. I guess they have to consider how much a customer is paying and how many times they send a truck to help him. If they don't make a profit - goodbye AAA.

AAA used to have unlimited tow service. Then people would buy a car and sell parts off of it. They would have AAA deliver it. The same cars were being hauled all around Wichita! They HAD to put a stop to it.

I use my insurance.
Works great.I maintain full coverage even after the car is paid off.
Only my beater commuter which I paid almost nothing for used do I have minimum state required insurance as I can easily buy another one if it is my fault.

Jerry,
I have carried a AAA card for 56 years (I also carry AAAMich Insurance) I have never compared prices because there has never been a reason to change from AAA. When we got a Motorhome, we upgraded the coverage to Plus to cover it and I have used it for batteries and tires to having the motorhome towed. I have never had to pay a nickel for roadside assistance. Plus AAA has complete travel services from cruises to hotels to providing road maps (you know, those big colorful pieces of paper you use when the GPS fails! If you are on the road, and it is late, a call to AAA will get you a reservation at the hotel in the next town when you didn't even realize there was a next town. Want to camp at a state park or a private campground - they got you covered.
