Actual headline from PetaPixel:

"Report Claims Japanese Government is Asking Fuji to Buy a Stake in Nikon"

I do not know if this has been posted or if anyone is aware. I have seen this on one other site.

Nikon didn't want to buy into mirrorless, now mirrorless wants to buy into Nikon. How ironic.

Interesting, wonder why Fuji has been approached?

The Japanese frequently want Japanese companies to stay under Japanese ownership. Look at Toshiba, Foxcon (AKA Hon Hai, Taiwan) and others: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-toshiba-accounting-western-digital-idUSKBN18Y27O

Fujifilm is doing well, is financially sound, and Sony is still in trouble.

It's just a rumor however it does make sense. Nikon can quit making APS-C camera and make only 35mm DSLR. Fuji makes the mirrorless in APS-C and medium format. That way Fuji makes the GFX, Nikon makes the FX and Fuji makes the X. Nikon can make some G lenses.

And Kodak didn't want to go digital. It's tough guessing what trend will succeed and what will fail.

No newspaper coverage, no Reuters news reports, nothing in wall street journal, hell, there'e nothing in the English version of the Tokyo Times. But I guess I do not read enough, someone saw it on the INTERNET, SO IT MUST BE TRUE.

The only smoke on this one is the smoke on the internet, NO honest, reliable, documented news source has been quoted. Just junk on the internet.
