Wow! That can't be general company policy. Are you a gorgeous young woman?

As far as I can tell, it is how they operate. And I'm a very ordinary looking 68 year old guy.

Wish I had a store like that within a reasonable distance. (less than a 1 1/2 hour drive).

Interesting - just bought a Peak Strap for my new D7200 from Hunts after reading about it on the 'Hog' today. I certainly knew about the Melrose store as I lived in MA for most of my life, but I purchased the 7200 from 42nd street and never thought about Hunts since I am now in NH and Fl most of the time. Agree it was - and still is - a great place for photography purchases.
I do have a couple of cameras to sell and thought I'd give them a shot as I don't want to be bothered with eBay.

A little over four years ago I purchased my Nikon D7100 from Hunt's Camera in Manchester, NH. Since I retired, the South Portland, Maine location is now the most convenient for me. Last week my D7100 for some reason would no longer auto-focus. I brought it up to the So. Portland store and explained the issue. The person I dealt with (I believe the manager or assistant manager) looked it over, cleaned the mounting surfaces of both camera and lens, played with controls and settings for a few minutes, frowned several times, and told me I had two options. He could send the camera out for repair which would take 6 to 8 weeks and cost me "lots of money." Or he could swap it for a brand new d7100 body at no charge. I did some quick calculating and opted for the latter. I never dreamt that that could happen after four plus years of use. I thanked him for the great service and he said "Just tell your friends." So that's what I'm doing now.

I live only 45 miles from South Portland and will give Hunt's a try. Thanks!

Hunt's Camera are more than just a camera store. They really put back into the photo community. Hunt's sponsors several guest speakers and events at my local camera club every year. They also run photo walks and classes on numerous different photo topics - over 30 events scheduled this month alone. I got a really great deal on an A7Rii at their Mothers Day event.

Not only that! Hunt's has been the major sponsor of the annual New England Camera Club Council Conference held each year in July at UMass, Amherst. This year the 72nd conference is July 14-16, 2017 and check out the many activities and speakers. I've been attending the last 6 years or so. See website for more info: www.neccc.org There are booths for Nikon, Canon, Tamron, Sigma and other photographic specialties. Hunt's has the largest and will match or beat any online price. I shop there and save the 8.875% NYC sales tax that I would normally pay with B&H or Adorama here in NYC. They also have conference specials and free shipping if you prefer. I have also purchased items from their periodic email broadcasts and have nothing but good things to say about Hunt's. No, I don't work there!

Hunt's Photo, which use to be called W.B. Hunt is a powerhouse in New England selling at NYC prices, and no grey market. They have been around for a long while. They also mail order. If you want to buy, sell or trade from a very honest dealer try them. I know the owner, used manager and some of the SP there. I would highly recommend them. They are located in Melrose, MA.

Amazing story. You may be interested to know that Hunt Photo started out in one Boston area town as Hunt Drug Store. They had one elevated shelf with some photo products on it. I bought a Halliburton case there in the 70s.

I believe that was Hunt Drug in Melrose, correct?

Actually it began as Hunt Drug in Malden then moved to it's current flagship location in Melrose. No more drug store which it began as. Now it is Hunt's Photo.

Hunts Camera, Gary Farber, is one of the sponsors for my meetup group. You just can't get better customer service. So many of my members have used them and been so happy with the service. Gary goes out of his way to provide excellent service. It doesn't hurt that there is no tax and no shipping charges. I have bought many cameras & lenses from Hunts.

Wow, those are great references for Hunts photo. Currently I live just outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, and will be moving lock stock and barrel to Bow, New Hampshire. Bow, is between Concord, and Manchester, and will probably be a short drive to Manchester. I'll be looking for a camera club once we make the move. I'll be out of Louseyana, by the end of June. Just waiting for real estate closing etc.

it always makes me feel good to hear these storys. There are a lot of great camera stores out there. Unfortunately places like 42nd street photo, still exist.
Glad u had such a great experience.
My local camera store has everything you could ever ask for. Very nice and helpful people. Unfortunately the prices in the store are a bit crazy.
A used lens almost the same price as a new lens. A part for my tripod cost me $32.00 in that store. I then bought a spare on ebay for 2 bucks.
