Today, these Wood Ducks came out better than another pair I shot a month ago at
the same distance. I don't know why. Luck? Lighting?

Hand held @ 800mm.

Canon 5Dsr - Canon 400 II DO f4 - Canon 2.0x III - 1/500 - f/11 - ISO @ 1000.

At that distance, your 800mm equivalent lens would cover an area approx 8ft. wide (no cropping). How large are these ducks? Great image, so sharp and colorful!

In spite of the distance, your exposure is great. These ducks are really difficult for me to get a good exposure. The dynamic range of their colors is so great plus their feathers are so reflective that I usually blow out the whites while underexposing the green and purples. Nice job on 2 beautiful birds.

Thanks for sharing Regis ! - They are very skittish in the wild !.......my best (wild) shots came from my car using my car pod and Canon 300 2.8 W/2XII on a crop frame body.

Yes, they are very shy creatures, but very pretty. They are on a portion of the lake that is on private property with no access unless you
are in a canoe. So, I am limited as to how close I can get to them for a more detailed shot. One of these days I will get a closer photo of them.

Thank you very much, Imagemeister.

Beauty. To be pedantic it's two males rather than "a pair".😊

In poker, a pair of Queens, does not denote a difference in sex orientation, nor does the common usage
of the word 'pair' have any direct sexual context.

Thank you very much, lambert.
