Maybe he meant both. Its no longer worth debating tied in to a suggestion that we stop talking about it.

It would be nice to have the entire thing "muted."

Wow!

Here's a D810 at over $1,200 below other sellers, but this one is obviously gray market.

Their return policy totally sucks compared to ABC. They want a 15% "restocking fee" plus they want you to pay back shipping. That's over $300 in this case.

ABC give you 30 days no fee and no questions. You might have to pay return shipping.

I cannot see that their Ad says gray market.

(ABC = Adorama, B&H , Cameta)

It sAys right on their web page that they are not an authorized dealer

I have 15 days to return it. I will put it through its paces for ten days and then decide

With a 15% "restocking fee" plus paying return shipping and their "free shipping". If you send it back, bend over.

Moot point it

Nikon is now accepting many grey market cameras into their repair facilities, especially the D7xx and D8xx series making much of our discussion "moot."

But you have to pay. There is no warranty. So it isn't moot...just not as awful as it used to be.

If it's true, its not as awful as when Nikon wouldn't fix or even look at anything gray market, even for a fee. And most cameras probably don't have issues during the warranty period anyway. So, for the majority of those purchasing grey market products, having Nikon support when a problem arises could be a really big deal. It also makes the single biggest argument against buying grey market Nikon products essentially moot.

Outstanding. The naysayers are busted and credibility shot. But I would still be careful with that merchant. If memory serves they are not an unthorized Nikon dealer. But it's been awhile since I checked the list.http://cdn-6.nikon-cdn.com/where-to-buy/nikon_img_auth_dealers.pdf

Thanks for that. Lots of dealers.

I'm guessing they were gray market. Did you get warranties with them?
