Considering all the mobile apps, the included web gallery, Adobe Bridge, ability to share collections to mobile devices and clients, the connectivity between PS and LR, the constant improvement, the huge professional user community from whom we can learn, I'd conclude that I spend more per month on many things of much less worth.
I don't care how much businesses profit if they are providing me an invaluable service. I know of no more capable package.

I understand your point of view - but I read so often that the package costs "only" $10 per month. It seems to me that it is part of the "live now pay later" syndrome - which philosophy is responsible for 1% of the world's population owning 99% of the world's wealth. That is reason enough for me to shy away.

Software subscriptions are the norm now. Think Microsoft Office. One advantage in that instance is that they will always update your software to the latest version so long as you're paying for the subscription. (If you bought Office 2010 in 2010, your're still using Office 2010.) I haven't done a cost analysis to see where the break even point is with a subscription versus the more expensive standalone software. They're going to get you to pay them money either way, but that's what business is all about. I don't think that businesses are ripping us off by charging money for their goods and services, so long as the pricing is fair.

Is that the same as $120 each year every year? (or 10 years = $1200 dollars)? Is that corporate profiteering?

Another way to look at it is that Photoshop used to cost $600 as a stand alone software. 10 years down the road that version would be considerably out-of-date, and would likely even have performance issues with whatever version of Windows evolves (probably Windows 13 or 14 in 10 years). So you would likely be stuck purchasing an upgrade anyway. Maybe more than one.

In addition, your subscription also gets you LightRoom and Bridge. The way PS and LR interact is state of the art. In short you get a lot for your $10-a-month subscription, and in the long run (if you’re an active user that would use and appreciate the constant upgrades to these products that come with subscription) you may well save money.

Maybe we should buy Adobe stock!

I second this suggestion. I use PS and LR, but for quick culling, quick edits, and viewing, FastStone is really, really good. I use it all the time in conjunction with PS and LR.

Me too

Just keeping it in perspective. Many people lease a new auto every three years. That's very expensive. (I don't. My CRV is 18 years old with 155,000 miles and my wife's Accord is 6 years old with 95,000 miles.) $144 per year for totally updated, new and improved versions of Photoshop CC & LR CC is pretty reasonable. I agree with you, but it's an individual decision. Can't really be "logically" be debated.

Google Picasa online. I was able to find a site to download it from. I can't advise of the site unfortunately.

I currently use Picasa 3 with Windows 10, on a new computer. No problems thus far. Have you tried reinstalling Picasa?

I used Picasa for years but since it was discontinued I can't seem to get a version compatible w/ Windows 10.
Which of the available programs is closest to Picasa?

A very good, free and easy to use editor is "Faststone Image Viewer". Try it, you'll like it!

I was going to suggest this one, so I'll just give it a great big second. Handles RAW as easy as jpg. Move cursor off-image on full screen view on all four sides and all the options and EXIF are displayed. If you don't need selection or layers the edit menu will take care of most problems. Move the cursor off image on the top and there's a film strip of all images in the folder.

Along with others I can recommend GIMP. But be aware that there is a substantial learning curve!

The inquiry was a replacement for Picasa. GIMP would be a replacement for Photoshop.
