We all suffer from that 'not seeing' at times Linda - with my posts it's usually your namesake from Maine that finds them! Or Frank of course!

You betcha, I love them! Yours works great, Dave, not just because of the eye-catching color, but you have really nice separation of the figures with fun details like the man's hat and all the grasses.

Here's one from last February. I posted to the "contrasy" b&w thread in pure b&w, but have added a couple of textures just now (quickly, lol) to see how would look.

The fun thing about this shot is this is an osprey nest that a great blue heron has borrowed as its winter lookout. Once the ospreys return in spring, there will be no sharing

I'm so glad you started this topic!

I am loving the "mood" of this one Linda

I have always enjoyed silhouettes. Thank you for the subject. Here are just a couple. I know the light is blown out in the 2nd one but the shadows have always just appealed to me and of course winter trees are always good. Probably needs a moon or bigger bird somewhere. Oh well, someday....

I think the bright light adds to the interest

just had to add one more and a note saying that I was very excited and happy when this shot was in the last edition of Shutterbug magazine in their "red" assignment

That's another very nice shot pressner, I think you're our resident silhouette expert!

I bet no one would guess that I would submit a silhouette of a flying bird in the marsh.

Thank you. I do too but there are always comments about blown out and over exposed on various shots but maybe sometimes it is ok😃.

What a great subject John! Very attractive silhouette that could be used for a greetings card or poster. Did you keep tracking the bird or was this a single shot?
Download to appreciate properly.

So eye-catching, John. I think the row of reeds along the bottom adds a lot of interest too.

An older shot from when I framed everything (and was a bit heavy on the saturation, due to the limits of a previous laptop)

This was a right time/right place moment, including when the pigeons took off just as I was composing.

This was the first shot and the bird got away from the tree rather quickly. So I stopped after a few frames and D810 is great for image quality it is too slow for action and that is why I got the D500 for its 10 FPS.
