Canon printer software (I believe drivers) will not function under Apples new operating system Sierra (10.12). Canon is working with Apple to come up with a fix in the future. I post this as a notification to anyone on a Mac with a Canon printer going from El Capitan to Sierra. You can Gogol and find more information on it.

Thanks, this is the type of information update that makes this forum valuable. Also, the clear and descriptive title you gave is very helpful. I know many others on here appreciate you posting it also.

Canon has new driver and software for my Prixma Pro 100 (their newest printer they want sales), however my Prixma Pro 9500 Mark II is still down.

Just looked at the Canon Europe site and there appears to be a Pixma Pro 9500 Mark IIdriver for Sierra released on the 27th. Could be worth a try : http://www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/products/printers/inkjet/pixma_pro_series/pixma_pro9500_mark_ii.aspx?type=drivers&language=EN&os=macOS%2010.12%20(Sierra)

Also appears to be on the USA site: http://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/support-professional-inkjet-printers/pixma-pro9500-mark-ii?tab=drivers#Z7_MQH8HIC0L88RB0AMD0F1Q42K25

Good luck

Update: Canon software Print Studio Pro which allows the client to choose the ICC profile for the printer does not work on Sierra and furthermore their plug-in support will not plug in or work with Photoshop 2017, Lightroom 5.6 or Elements 15.

Yikes! The plot thickens. Sorry it didn't work. Can't add anything since I'm a Windows 10 user and everything seems fine. Hopefully they'll work it out....

I Googled the problem and others are having the same problem, so I guess in a few weeks Canon will have an update.

Please keep us posted. At least you can check both the Canon USA and Canon Europe sites periodically. I find it very strange that the version you downloaded from the USA site appeared not to work and the one on the European site did since I think they claim to be the same version - 16.10.0.0

I take it you also download the latest ICC profile and print studio pro versions. There seem to be recent ones.

Have you tried this? http://canoncanada.custhelp.com/app/macsierraprinter

Apple also seems to have released an update to Sierra (10.12.1) that includes some fixes for Canon printers: http://www.macworld.com/article/3134043/macs/apple-issues-macos-sierra-10-12-1-update.html

It all seems a little puzzling, and I'm sure quite frustrating...

Good luck

Yes, the Canon printers are working as long as either I let the printer default without selecting a profile or (using Adobe Photoshop CC) I have the software (like Photoshop) do the printing then I can select the paper profile, however if I try to use the software namely Print Studio (which integrates with the applications as a plug in) it does not find the printers and it also does not plug in to 2017. In fact Print Studio is absent from the Canon quick menu.
