I'm partial to the blue one, Linda. The thing that makes it a success to me is the composition. The B&W is excellent too, but IMO, this shot would be successful in just about any color; I'm partial to blue! lol!

Thanks so much, CathyAnn!

I like the b/w version better as the cows stand out more...

The fake moonlight was a fun accident: I had a raw file from my bridge camera that showed muddy orange from low-light sunrise, so I wondered how would look if I pushed the white balance to cooler.

This is fog lifting from the pasture at sunrise, and in the chilled air you can also see the cow's breath.

Edits and suggestions are welcomed! (the blue version here has a bit of diffusion added)

You won't hear this often from me, but I think the color version works better than the B&W. That is not the consensus of opinion; but I think it has a more of an early morning the sun has not come up and the moon is shining cool tones. (ok reflecting since the moon does not produce its own light). I think the fog adds atmosphere and mood to what might otherwise be a so-so composition. It engages the viewer and who cares if it is fake. I like it a lot, Linda. Also I think the car that is zooming along and barely visible in the download is not at all a distraction; but adds to the composition. It puts the whole thing in perspective. The cow is just doing his thing while the world is going by doing whatever it is they are doing. Works really well together.

Thanks so much, Erich; I'm very pleased you enjoyed. This particular blue one has Nik midnight filter influences.

Just to clarify, it's only the color that's fake - the fog is real As shot, it's bright orange and the sun is in upper left corner (sunrise). I like your suggestion of why the vehicle adds interest. Much appreciated!

I did understand about the color. The fog is, of course, real. It would be practically impossible to create that.
