Cows in fake moonlight

The fake moonlight was a fun accident: I had a raw file from my bridge camera that showed muddy orange from low-light sunrise, so I wondered how would look if I pushed the white balance to cooler.

This is fog lifting from the pasture at sunrise, and in the chilled air you can also see the cow's breath.

Edits and suggestions are welcomed! (the blue version here has a bit of diffusion added)

I really liked the resulting blue, but there were large lens flares to deal with, so I turned to b&w. This is fog lifting from the pasture at sunrise, and in the chilled air you can also see the cow's breath.

No suggestions Linda, just a question. Did you do the b&w conversion from the cooler blue version? I ask this because I find that it often gives a better conversion if you to push to blue before converting.

I did, Graham, but my b&w rarely look good on UHH - lol. I just edited my topic to include a blue version. Also a quick adjustment to the b&w.

Thanks so much for your visit!

I don't like the blue version, but the B&W is a very convincing work!!

I much perfer the B/W. Much more definition between the cow and the grass. Love the fog. From your description sounds like you made lemonade out of lemons.

Fake or not, it's a gorgeous shot. Moody (no pun intended), cool, and VERY appealing, even if you're not another cow. I much prefer the blue edition. I think the coolness of the blue complements the mood better than the b/w edition does. EOTB, lol. Nice work, Linda. I really like ths one.

I forgot...I'm supposed to explain my comments...to me #1 just seems made up, where #2 seems totally realistic...I've never really seen a blue foggy morning like that, not saying they don't exist, I've just never seen it! We had a foggy cool morning here yesterday, and everything was shades of gray! Had I seen #1 by itself, and not next to #2, I might have a different opinion!...good work either way!

Thanks so much, Frank. Now I'll have to remember how "easy" it was for next time

Thank you again, Bob! In FYC you can say as much or as little as you want - lol. Though this OP always is greatly appreciative of respectful, well-intended opinions

I know Linda...I'm just having a bad morning, and I felt bad when I started thinking about my first answer..just saying I didn't like#1, was a very curt and non-helpful reply!! Sorry about that, and I won't let it happen again....( unless I forget, and then it's not my fault )

I've already forgotten what we were talking about
