really like these Linda,

I like the blue version - the fog seems softer and the darkness seems darker for some reason, especially the foreground. Really like that large cow animal against the white fog. Spooky, surreal image.

I'm glad for your interest, Piet! That particular blue one, done after the blue-to-black conversion, has a touch of Nik Color Efex midnight filter which adds the softer (diffusion) and darker that you see.

The fake moonlight was a fun accident: I had a raw file from my bridge camera that showed muddy orange from low-light sunrise, so I wondered how would look if I pushed the white balance to cooler.

This is fog lifting from the pasture at sunrise, and in the chilled air you can also see the cow's breath.

Edits and suggestions are welcomed! (the blue version here has a bit of diffusion added)

Linda, there really wasn't any reason to change your image but, just to see what could be done this was tweaked (hi-lights and shadow) converted to B&W then split toned just because I could.
Oh and a couple of shadowy characters stole the car

That car needed to be gone!! This adds a whole new meaning to cow rustling. I bet they took it to a Chick fil A for one of those political sign carrying protest marches - the world and the cows have gone MAD.

Thank you for your version, Rich. I like it!

I am always partial to shots that tell lies with light. Fake moonlight is a favorite of mine, and the cows in the moonlight works beautifully.

I love it Linda, especially the blue one-I keep thinking of Johnny Cash's "Ghost Riders in the Sky"!!!!

Thanks so much, Anvil! I remember your wonderful "moonlit" cat and similar shots!

Linda, I'm torn between the two, as I like both for different reasons that are unexplainable. Although, I am leaning more towards the B&W, which seems to have a touch of sepia? The fog and the visible breath from the cow gives a dramatic effect that draws me in. Its great when we come across an accident and wonder why we couldn't intentionally do it on purpose.

Thank you, Dave! The b&w is via Nik Silver Efex. Not sure why the hint of sepia, especially after I punched the contrast after uploading. I think this winter I will hunker down and re-learn b&w conversion.

On the other hand, some images such as my oft-posted truck on bridge (not the midnight one, the other) seem to come out fine. Maybe it's as simple as pushing the blacks more while in Silver Efex?

I have stopped wondering why I didn't think of something "on purpose" as my senior moments become more frequent

Thank you again!

Well, i'm not mooch of a mootique-er...but I am impressed you got up early enough to catch a cow's breath on a chilly foggy morning. It's a little cowreepy in a weird sort of whey. I like both the moody blue and the moosterious black
and the fun accident of the fake moonlight. If only all photo accidents cud be that cool!

I'm partial to the blue one, Linda. The thing that makes it a success to me is the composition. The B&W is excellent too, but IMO, this shot would be successful in just about any color; I'm partial to blue! lol!
