Bill- I thought I was shooting the videos in 4 K but I will go back and check my settings. They are from the Gx8 camera. They look great on my computer but not as seen through UHH interface. On UHH they are slow to get started, jerk, hang up and stop and then continue. And they look normal on FB even through Safari. I did no editing at all- just downloaded from the memory card- saved in My Pictures, viewing through Bridge. I didn't change the file name or extension on the ones I posted. I don't use LR much-too goosey for me on the organization part.
Sure put them on Utube or Vimeo and we will take a look. Thanks.

They are very jerky on my computer as well. Play with different video editing software and change the compression. Also, you may be experiencing problems because of the browser you use. For example, a few years ago when I was still using Windows Explorer I had a lot of trouble uploading a picture here on UHH. I changed to Google Chrome and have never had a problem with UHH. But I have problems viewing some pdf files. Every browser has it's quirks. Try opening a new incognito window in your browser and then uploading your image to Flickr. But I warn you, something is wrong with your video that it jerks so much. Probably the compression used or lack thereof.

Thanks for taking a look and commenting :) I have not done any editing on the videos. Straight from the memory card to My pictures and saved in original format. I will check my settings though.
I do have Google Chrome-

Bill- I looked at my videos but there is very little information other than the basic. So I looked at my camera settings and it is set to:
MP4
1920x1080 30 p
Image Sensor Output 30p
20/Mbps
AAC

But the videos I posted were in "Snap Movie" and the Rec Format and Rec Quality is grayed out on the menu - so maybe that is the part of the issue.
I will look at a couple of regular videos and see if there is more data to look at.

Both downloaded and ran smoothly with a very nice sharp picture. I'm running Internet Explorer on an i7 laptop.

On the GX8 you want:

MP4
3480x2160, 30p
Image Sensor Output 30p
100Mbps
AAC

This will give you 4 times the "quality" of the setting you picked. The files are bigger too! I've yet to learn what Snap Movie is, but I think it limits the recording to the HD format of 1920x1080, even if you have the Motion Picture function set to 4K.

Thanks Bill- I made the setting changes on my camera. And I turned off Snap Movie. The explanation of Snap Movie in the manual is that it is a quick little tool to use between stills if something noteworthy happens in your environment and you want to snap a video. I used it because it was very handy and very short and I didn't have to do any editing - how much editing should one need for 8 seconds :)

Ok part of the problem may be solved. I am going back out to the Slough tonight and get a couple of short videos with the new settings.

But should the settings be the reason that Flickr won't load?

We are leaving for WA tomorrow and will be gone for 8 days. Maybe we can chat again when I get back. I plan to do some video while gone.

Thanks again.

I'm about to leave for Oregon! I'm going to try to find some patient coastal birds to practice pointing the GX8/100-400 on.

I have a David Thorpe GX8 book on my Kindle and looked up Snap Movie. I don't see the point unless it is for the focus pull or fade effects. With it off the red button does full strength, regular video.

My normal procedures for video is to shoot the clips, put the good ones in Premier Elements, trim them, adjust them and output to a file for Vimeo. I have more abandon video projects than finished ones! They are never good unless rock steady and have interesting subjects. It took a few months for me to learn Premier Elements. Now I like it a lot.

I know nothing about Flicker except that somehow a few photos of mine get there without me knowing how or why. It has something to do with my phone.

For a lark, I'm trying to upload your video to flicker and it is, so far, not working. My current guess is that the frame rate in Snap Movies is slightly odd and Flickr doesn't like it.

Too bad we won't be here when you are in Oregon. Maybe next time we can get together? I leave for Az the mid-end of Oct. If you get out there give me a heads up.

I did go out to the slough tonight. It was an egret convention- 18 of them on a relatively small pond. I did too many single shots and lots of video. I tried the single focus point, multi focus point and all focus points to do a simple comparison. It's unfortunate that while reviewing you can't see your focus points :( Anyway I spent way too much time out there at the slough but couldn't tear myself away. Just as I was getting ready to leave something interesting happened :) I did get video with the new settings so maybe it will load to Flickr.
Enjoy your time in Oregon. I think all the birds flew back to Canada but now seeing a bit more activity. Try Newport- lots of birds at Yaquina Lighthouse area.

There were lots of comments on flickr's help forum just a few days ago about video difficulties. Staff admitted to a problem but ultimately reported it was fixed. I uploaded a video a day or two ago and, other than it seemingly taking a long time, once it was processed it played fine.

I think you are right. A few posts back, I offered to upload one of suntouched clips to my (never used) flickr account. I gave up waiting for it to process and forgot about it. I just looked and it plays! I think it is the only thing I have on flickr because several weeks ago I deleted what was there because it was all cell phone snapshot junk!

Not being "my work" I will leave it there until I notice this topic is dead. Then I will delete it.

I uploaded both video files to my free flickr account. The top one took longer to download and had a lock symbol on the blacked out video for a few minutes with the remark that the video was being processed. Usually if your video looks jerky on a streaming video, it may be your video card or laptop settings or internet connection is not keeping up, or you may have multiple programs loaded. Vimeo or youtube or facebook may have different algorithms for compressing the video files on their sites than flickr does. View both videos on my flickr page ...

They look fine on my desktop. If they don't look good on your laptop then I would say it's the laptop or your connection or having multiple programs running, that is the culprit. Both videos are fine.

To Bobspez- I am back from the "no cell" zone of WA. Thanks for posting those videos. They run fine. I will try to re-run them from my computer to my Flickr account. Maybe it was a bad day for Flickr when I tried to load them.

Hi Bill
I am back from the back country of WA and have Internet service again. I tried to look at the videos from your link but the link did not work. It may be that you have removed the videos by this time.
