I am looking for help from anyone that has actually loaded a video to Flickr.

I have been trying to load a video file to my photo stream on Flickr (MP4) without success. It is a small video file- duration 8 seconds. I have not done anything to alter the original MP4 file except to rename it. When I try to load the video from Flickr's downloader, the file is grayed out on my computer which indicates to me that it is not an appropriate format. This is a very common format and one that is acceptable to Flickr according to their information.

This same file loaded to Facebook without a problem so I don't believe there is anything wrong with the file. Thanks for the help.

Sorry for your problem. I have several videos on my Flickr and they all run fine. One question. Are you logged in when you make this attempt. Flicker is picky about being logged in. My videos are all fuzz size mp4 and they uploaded and run just fine. Are you able to load still files? Good luck. One thing that comes to mind, your file could be corrupted in some way. Again Flickr is very picky.

Yes I am logged in. And I load stills all the time without a problem. I have only tried the one video file so I will go and see if any other video files load. I have a free Flickr account- wonder if one needs upgraded account? Thanks for the help.

In my experience the "free" account, which I also have, makes no difference. Best of luck.

Suntouched - When you completed the file and renamed it, did you perhaps also move the file from its original location? I'm thinking it might be greyed out only because Flickr or whatever tool you are using to load the file can't find it where it expects it to be. It could also be, as Jimmy suggests, that the file is damaged/corrupted for some reason.

Check to make sure you file has the correct file extension after you renamed the file. Otherwise, I'm stumped...I upload .mp4 files all the time.

No I did not change the extension name. The file is still in my pictures although in a different folder. I tried uploading a MP4 movie that I had not changed the name but running into the same issue. The video was taken with Panasonic camera so the file name is what Panasonic gave to it plus the extension. Same for all of my videos-
I will try to upload the video here and you all can have a look at the file I am trying to load to Flickr. I appreciate the help :)

Well that didn't work very well. The video attached (unlike Flickr) but it doesn't run like it does on my computer. Keeps stopping when I view it here. Oh well.

I'd say your file is corrupted.

I don't think it is corrupted but I will try another one for comparison.

Both run fine, fade to B&W near the end.

As workaround, you may try to convert your video to another format using a video file converter. Freemake is one such converter. It is quite flexible and very easy to use. Googling it should get you to the right place. Be careful. It's installer tries to download tool bars if you do not read the fine print. Good luck.

I don't know. They don't run ok when I view them on UHH from my computer- they kind of jerk and bounce along. I have the b&w fade added at the end. Still, however they run, I was able to upload to UHH and FB but not to Flickr. It's still a mystery :) Thanks.

They are very jerky on my computer as well. Play with different video editing software and change the compression. Also, you may be experiencing problems because of the browser you use. For example, a few years ago when I was still using Windows Explorer I had a lot of trouble uploading a picture here on UHH. I changed to Google Chrome and have never had a problem with UHH. But I have problems viewing some pdf files. Every browser has it's quirks. Try opening a new incognito window in your browser and then uploading your image to Flickr. But I warn you, something is wrong with your video that it jerks so much. Probably the compression used or lack thereof.

When I click the "download" links you provided, they play a little jerky. But, they are playing through an internet connection in Chrome on my computer, not downloading. When Chrome stops playing, I can right click and get a "Save video as ..." Doing that, I can play the clip in the Windows 10 "Movies and TV" app or other media player. Other than some camera motion, the actual playback is then smooth.

I have both YouTube and Vimeo accounts. I can put your clips there temporarily if you want to see what happens there.

Are you shooting at 1920x1080p30, or is that the output from the editor. I ask, because the reason I have the GX8 is that it shoots 4K. It appears you are selecting something else.
