sorry about that mwac. as i tell people i tried snorting coke once but the bubbles iritated my nose! by the way milk out the nose hurts worse by personal expierence!

I have a different take on EW.
EW was blunt, like some teachers I've had have been blunt. They are helping and they are trying to show you the right way and they don't like to mess around about it.
I liked EW. I don't mind blunt at all.
I also think that there was a bit of a language barrier as his first language was french so...you won't see me bashing EW....I learned things from him and appreciated his input.

I kind of got him also. When he went all freaky is when someone slammed him for being blunt, then it was all about the fight. Nobody was going to win.

I'll be honest I didn't like him, but I had personal reasons for it. That being said, I don't like it when a member feels they need to leave for whatever reason and no matter my personal feelings for EW, I'm sad he felt he had to leave.

Oh, I didn't say I liked him. Didn't. But I thought I understood his rantings. But I've been wrong before. Feel bad anyone needs to leave. Still miss Rocko but don't really miss the rantings of EW.

There is a lot here on which to offer an opinion. Ive been around this forum since July, 2011 but didnt offer any photos or commentary until much later. I was the proverbial lurker. I wanted to see how the site was being run, and - frankly - what sort of people would eventually call this place home. I find that this site is a good place for everyone -from the rank amateur who uses a small point and shoot and who has no desire to be considered a photographer, to the professional who has made his craft an art form and will share information with others less skilled but who are willing to learn.
Yes, there are those who post blurry photos with bad lighting who simply want to see their offerings on the big screen. And I think thats OK. Everyone needs some pleasure in their life, and if we can give it to them by saying their doggie or their grandchild is cute as a button, then whats the harm? They may post their photos in the Photo Gallery and ask for critiques, but IMO, though these criticisms should be honest, they should also be soft because if one is SERIOUS about the details of their photo, they will post it under Photo Analysis. Its there that the rubber hits the road and blunt and blatantly honest are the order of the day. So theres room for everyone here - to show off their families and their pets, and to post more serious offerings in hopes of learning more on how to improve ones efforts.
You said that many of the sentimental shots will NEVER be a wall hanger (I personally hate that term), but who are we to judge? Maybe a blurry photo of little Johnny pulling in his first fish, or one of 9 month old Mary taking her first step will definitely qualify for a proud grandpa as a 20 x 30 poster. For the really SERIOUS amateur, if such unskilled postings become a burr under your saddle, then you can simply avoid the Photo Gallery and spend your time more productively in Photo Analysis. You can make this site whatever you want it to be.
You can even relieve your personal tensions by visiting the General Chit-Chat forum, finding someone of a polar opposite political philosophy, and lambasting them with carefully constructed vitriol and verbal venom that clearly defines you as a superior example of your species.
I apologize if Ive offended anyone. Its certainly not my intent. I do enjoy this place and I find that now its the second cyber-place I visit in the morning after Ive staggered down the steps and poured that first cup of freshly brewed caffeine.

I kinda miss EW (not saying I liked him) but his verbage at times was what I wanted to say but wouldn't and couldn't. I miss Rocco as well...you could always count on his being one of the first to welcome a newbie. Yes there are those that I wonder why in the he-- would somebody post for all to see something like that. And there are those that post photos of children and grandchildren asking for comments that drive me nuts at times. What are you going to say...that the kid looks like Jimmy Durante? It's those times that I have to stop and realize the photo must mean something to them and no child is more adorable to them than the one in the submitted photo. Those are a few times when discretion is the better part of valor and silence is a virtue. Just some of my thoughts.
