The fifteen star flag flown during the Forgotten War, the War of 1812!

It was about much more than the impressing of American seaman.

Put this pole up 20 years ago; this is about the 5th flag, though. One of the most important rules of flag etiquette is don't ever fly a ragged, wind-torn flag.

My Biggest concern is those that bitch about the display, my gripe Buy a real Flag like one actually made here in America not China.

Correct, I change mine out every couple of years and give the old one to either the Boy Scouts or Young Marines for proper disposal.

I despise those that mount a flag incorrectly on a vehicle.

I didn't know there were so many rules about mounting flags, but I'm learning.

I have a different view: when I see a guy with a flag waving on the back of his pickup truck, I smile knowing there are patriots out there who are also proud of our country. I would love to see more flags on trucks.

Thanks guys, from a Navy Vet.

Nice scene. I have a nice aluminum flagpole out front that will never rust. In NY, they cannot charge sales tax on a state of federal flag. Whenever I buy one, I'm always ready for a fight. I guess the computer knows about that law, too.

Speaking of flags, have you noticed how many buildings have the American flag displayed on the wrong side? I used to comment to the people there, but it never made any difference. As you look at the building, it should be on your left.

...and when suspended vertically as you have the union should be on the north or east side. It took me a while to train the local Walmart management. It's bad enough they use it to attract business.

Oh yes, and upside down, after sundown with no light of its own. And on and on. I guess Im getting too old to care.

An upside down flag used to be considered a ship's distress signal; it wasn't "officially" distress, but it catches enough notice to possibly work if that's all you have. After sundown it doesn't matter as it probably wouldn't be seen.

I fly mine every day! I spent some of the best years of my life defending what that flag stands for and will never understand why any american would want to desecrate it as a form of protest even if the law says they can!
