A fine shot you have there. I would suggest lightening it up a tad or at least burn in a little detail in the front side of the shed. Don

Thanks Don...I'll give it a shot over the weekend. Appreciate the comment.

[quote=Triplets]Artistically it is outstanding. Leading lines and rule of thirds and much more. I downloaded the camera specs, because I always download them to investigate. You could have used higher ISO and then smaller aperture for DOF (depth of field). But everything is sharp enough so no real need. You have photo art much better than anything I could do, so you win. David...thank you so much for the kind words. Truth be told it was absolute dumb-ass luck I got this shot. My wife and I were taking a walk along the ocean's edge (she's not into photography at all and I'm what I would consider a moderate beginner). I didn't want to hold her up too much so I took a quick look around and snapped. DUMB-ASS LUCK!!!

This was taken a couple of years ago on a walk I took in Portland, ME. I converted it to B+W with Nikon's View-NX2 and added the ND+3 filter from Silver Efex. It looked pretty good on my laptop monitor, but not as good on my work monitor. Looking for advise.

Thanks,

Triplets

A great image!! I would like to see just a little more detail in the front of the shack!!!

So now you know everyone is a critic, what really matters is that you are pleased with the results.

Apparently the OP isn't really happy with the image, He ask for a critique.

I really do like this composition. I would lighten the shadows just a hair and one tick down on the contrast and this is a wall hanger for sure!

First thought - it would be boring if it was in color ;)

Susan...you can decide that. Here's the original.

Almost true. I am pleased with it but I like hearing what other may do to improve it.

When I post something and ask for critiques, I expect to get hammered. I have a thick skin, so if someone thinks my image is horrible, I want them to tell me so. But don't stop there -- tell me WHY it's horrible and what should have been done to improve it. It's the only way I can learn. Here is my latest rendition of the photo. I was able to bring out some detail in the front of the building -- I just hope it didn't come at the expense of the rest of the image.
